Item rarity and what they salvage into

Just a quick question...

If an item is blue or better quaility but does not salvage into runes or upgrade items, do they still have higher chance of salvaging into rare materials, or the chance is the same for any item?

It might have been asked before, but I couldn't really find an answer...

Thanks in advance

Blue purple and gold items all have runes and or inscriptions embedded

To salvage them you must use a superior salvage kit.

You will see a list of whats salvagable there is a chance that the item will not be destroyed as you remove each part.

Finally you can salvage the item itself for raw materials what you get depends on the item expensive/rare items tend to give rare materials.

The Wiki (always your friend!) has info on what kind of materials each item salvages into. Look up the item under weapons - the info is there for most of them.

Gold items usually salvage into more units common material than Blue Items. They also tend to have a better chance of salvaging into rare materials (and more units).

As always the list goes: (worst) white - blue - purple - gold (best)

Cheers!

Hmm, strange because today I tried to salvage a purple wand but when I used the expert kit on it it said it will only turn into materials... and that's why I wondered the above question.

Are you identifying the items before you try to salvage them?

The wand must have been a Phrophecies or Factions wand which therefore has inheirient mods that can't be removed.
It did have mods (by definition, blue and purple items must have them unless somebody salvaged them out already), it just wasn't removable.

Or you could use Expert/Perfect salvage kits.

As has been said, the higher up you go, the more salvage you get and the better chance of getting rare salvage. But, I think, when it comes to blues, the chances of getting anything out of a blue is the same as it is for the equivalent white, unless, of course, it is "highly salvageable".

Btw, I've come to the conclusion that, except for highly salvageable items, it's actually more cost effective to sell the items to the merchant and use the gold to buy the materials you need, rather than salvage things.

Yeah, the wand dropped in Factions, and I did identify it first.
Now that you pointed it out, actually I just realise that it is only in NF and EN where you can get mods out of salvaging... and Quaker, yes you are probably right about getting more out of it by just selling them to the merchant

I am also wondering if it is worth it to use expert instead of normal salvage kit on weapons. Do people use normal kit unless they want to get the modifier/upgrade component out of them?

I've never seen anything confirming that color rarity affects the chance of getting rare mats.

If you want rare mats, you need to use an expert salvage kit. Normal kits only yield common mats.

Blue, Purple and Gold weapons don't salvage into runes and insignia's. If it's not a weapon, then it is a rune and/or insignia, blue being a Minor Rune, purple being Major and Gold being Superior.

Hope that clears up the confusion.
