Quick question: at which point in Prophecies is your max party 5+ players?
Coridan
when you get to Yaks Bend you should be able to have a group of 6 players.

I believe it goes from 4 to 6 to 8.

^ Correct - the max is 8, once you reach Dragon's Lair.

In Prophecies, you are limited to 4 party members in Ascalon, and 6 through the Northern Shiverpeaks, Kryta, Maguuma, and the Crystal Desert. You get the max of 8 through the Southern Shiverpeaks and Ring of Fire, and also in The Dragon's Lair and Temple of the Ages.

Ishmael's summary is correct. In most of GW, the max party limit is 8 (except for a few exceptions, such as ABs (sort of), The Deep, Urgoz, and Viznu Square and Unwaking Waters (again, sort of).

Thanks!
The party I want to play with is 5 ppl, so I'll have to wait till Yak's Bend until we can all team up.

Not really, no.
You can easily split into two groups and fill the missing spots with hench until then.

It's either that or not grouping up at all.
They can mix and match so that they group with each other at least once.
