That Sinking Feeling
Guythreep
OK people, help me out. I just posted on the "Remember When" thread and I got all nostalgic and it seems like all that's left in GW is to go into a title-grinding downward spiral with no one to talk to but my heroes until GW2 comes out.
Please restore my faith in GW...please tell me there are still good things in GW.

You still have farm code and loot scaling to look forward to. After 8500 hours logged haven't felt the need to post a please help me find a reason to go on thread yet. If you can't find things you enjoy or goals to achieve the song is over for you and nothing we say can change that.

There are still good things in GW - feel better?
Don't play something you do not enjoy - there is no reason too. If you have spent this much time here I suspect it is more burnout than anything (we all have our burnout point). None of the Nerfs are that drastic and there are plenty of buffs out there (in fact, they are pretty much equal - just you don't regret buffs and thus do not stick in your mind). Go play something else, if the bug hits you to play again do so, if not then be happy: you have more than gotten your money's worth from the game.
I rather suspect that GW is one of the best online RPG games out there given each and everyone of your complaints - at least I haven't found a complaint yet that it isn't (less grind, less impact of nerfs, fewer nerfs, etc). There are, however, people who wanted a single player offline game or an online non-rpg and didn't bother to note the "online" or "RPG" part, but then they probably didn't put that many hours in game either. It is just easy to get spoiled, spend some time someplace else and GW will be back to that great game it has always been, just your perception needs to go back to what it was at the first.

Do some PvP, specially AB or just play another game, so you don't get too bored of GW.

In the last 2 year and 5 months I have played over 4000 hours.
I spent around £100 on the games meaning that my cost has been £0.025 (around US 5c) per hour. Where else can you get that amount of entertainment for that cost?
How many £29.99 single player games would I have to have bought to get 4000 hours of playtime? Well, most RPGs claim around 40 hours of playtime, so that's roughly 100 games I would have had to buy, making a total cost of £2999 ($6000)!
So, what's left that's good in GW.
Well, I certainly haven't done everything in the game - and again after playing for 4000 hours, what other games are there where you could say that?
There are many high end items that I have never had drop, but rather than whine that I have never had one, I am still hoping that eventually one will come along.
I still enjoy teaming up with my guildmates and going out and killing things.
FoW and UW still need to be totally finished.
Several titles close to maximum need to be finished off.
I really should do some PVP other than RA.
Cantha still needs to be Vanquished.
The Bonus Mission Pack is coming.
Anyway, without going on more, I still have plenty to do to keep me interested in the game after playing this game for longer than I have probably done any other single thing in my entire life (except work maybe?)
However, if you are struggling, then it is probably time you took a break.

Get yourself the Orange Box or CoD4. Faith, once lost can never be regained.

orange box ftw

I suggest taking a break. 6 months, 12 months?

I think you is need a thread call I Look Forward to Guild Wars 2 having (fill in the blank here)

I agree with the others. Buy the Orange Box, play your fill. I'm playing TF2 non-stop, and after repetitively shooting things for a few hours it's actually relieving coming back to the calm of GW.

I normally play a game to death move on then comeback later, next friday i'll play Crysis for hours/days straight then leave it for a while then come back when multiplayer picks up.
Same with GW's, i'll be back for BMP, Wintersday and Canthan New Year but not too bothered about playing inbetween as i find all HM the same and i've done NM to death

For a good roleplaying experience while waiting something new to happen in GW, The Witcher is quite good. While it's somewhat bug infested & clumsy over at technical side at the moment, story & atmosphere is pure legend.
It's based on Andrzej Sapkowsk's books.

I never complained about losing interest in Neverwinter Nights. Why? Games get boring. If you "need inspiration" to enjoy something again, then it's a sure sign you don't fancy it anymore.
But seriously like others have said: Orange booooooox. That or someother RPG out there that's doing dandy.

I've felt the way you do about GW for a long time now OP. So I have some other games I play (FF5, X off and on, GTA San andreas, lotro) then if I feel like it come play GW for a bit. Granted I do log on everyday but I'm talking to my guildies/friends that I've made and not really playing it. I sort of want to max titles, but I can't be bothered to go through everything (and the non fun) of vanquishing and stuff.
Neo Nugget
I suggest not getting burned out on GW quickly
Still play, but not as hardcore as before, and get a game like oooh i dunno Assassins Creed :O

I took a bit over a year off because I got hooked on Battlefield 2. I came back and found that the 236 peppermint candycanes I had in storage were worth something. It was a nice little surprise that gave me the jolt I needed to get back into the game. Honestly, the only downer I have is coming here and reading all the complaints about everything. I try to skim over those though and keep a good attitude about the game. It's kinda like what I tell my 8 year old when he starts getting upset when playing a game: you're playing a game to have fun. If you're not having fun with it anymore, it's time to do something else.

Unfortunately, Guild Wars' PvE wasn't designed to hold your interest for very long. They expected players to move on to PvP or take a break until the next campaign. After getting over the initial surprise that so many people weren't doing either of those, they decided to add player-requested grind (e.g. titles).
I'd suggest trying to get more into PvP, maintaining the resolve of not letting anyone ruin your fun or get to you in any way. Once you get bored of both pve and pvp then you won't have any problems finding something else to fill in parts or all of the timeslots GW used to occupy.

I get GW burnout from time to time. Take a few days (or longer) off and do something else. It's those days off when I think about what goal I want to accomplish and work towards that goal when I next log on.
Fridays are devoted to guild events, when I know I'm going to be with good friends just having fun.

That's why I mentioned keeping that resolve. If you're the type of person who takes things personally, going in with the right attitude makes all the difference. Playing with someone who has your back against jackasses can help out too.

- Make a new character!
- Play hard mode!
- Buy all that armor or weapons or mini pets you always wanted!
- There is always something to do....
....or go play Hellgate London or some other game for 2 years!
Its just a game and even though ive played it for 2 years, im realistic in that it will eventually get boring and ill move on to something else. Go experience life outside the house and enjoy the sun and get a pint down the pub (assuming your off legal drinking age).
Im in exactly the same situation!
I have all the armor id want, ive all the weapons id want, ive done all 3 campaigns in HM and all quests (almost) and explored all areas. Ive nothing to do but either titles or play a different char.
Im close to leaving and playing something else and considering im 25, ill be about 27 when GW2 is released and hopefully have a life to distract me by then (fingers crossed).
street peddler
play everything in hard mode...thats what keeps me interested.
dont feel no pain
How I keep busy
Pve with my mate = all content
Take my pve char's into Ab or RA
Do some Serious HA every now and again
Farm Farm Farm
and if all fails
Go out with my Gf for a meal
... joking, real life comes first, but GW is always fun to me (29 months 2500 hours)

Ab is the most relaxing form of Pvp Imo
12 vs 12, cap or kill (I suggest cap)
And with 12 people to taunt..... sweet.
Also
I also suggest you and your guildies, form a group of 8, and just walk through explorable areas in normal mode, not really killing just enjoying the sights...and hanging around. (its rather relaxing when you just Look around gw...then you see how great the art is)
Ya GW art is still nice >.> And theres still crazy AB builds.

I "quit" GW last week - just because I have a busy month coming.
Just before I uninstalled GW, I had stacked tremendous wealth in ectos/rubies/sapphires, mini-pets, several elite tomes, and rare weapons. Now I ask myself why I even bothered to do all that.
I still got GW at work and will possibly log in from time to time for a few minutes, but not for myriad number of hours as I used to do at home.
Perhaps I may return when the bonus pack is out (which is under my account). But there is not telling for sure. One thing is for certain - I will never forget my characters in GW, unlike those in Diablo, NeverWinter etc.
It's funny I'm writing about all this and even visiting this forum when I "don't" want to play GW anymore. This goes to show how great of a game GW is.

I suggest you take a break until the beta for GW2, which will hopefully be some time next year. There are alot of other MMO's around to play and the thrill of playing a new game can last a long time. I'm going to play Stargate Worlds when it comes out(which is likely sometime in 2009) and I do have other hobbies aside from video games.

gw2 is not out yet, enough reason?

Took 6 months off last year, feel regret since I missed the whole fun with SF

Take a break for a few months, your characters will still be here when you get back.
Watch Terrorstorm and Endgame by Alex Jones. They expose the men who are ushering world government with the ultimate goal of enslaving the worlds population. It's all backed-up by concrete fact too.
Zeitgeist is another nice documentary, so long as you don't mind being religiously displaced (warning, you will become an atheist after watching that one).
Lots of unanswered questions in your mind will suddenly be answered by watching those, aswell as new questions arising, and you'll have an insatiable desire to seek more answers. I know because it has dominated my time for the past few months.
K, enough politics and conspiracy stuff :P
