I consider myself to be pretty bad at this class. I've played it for a while now and I really need some help on builds. I have Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall. I want a good PvE build and a good PvP build (for RA). I don't want to be your usual "Get in, Kill it, Get Out!" Sin. I want a build for PvP that has a reasonable balance of survivability and enemy monk pressure. For PvE I want a build that can tank or just survive, while helping team members.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Generally I see many Assassins use builds like this in PvE, especially if they're trying to go for a mix between defense and offence:
[card]Golden Phoenix Strike[/card][card]Critical Strike[/card][card]Moebius Strike[/card][card]Death Blossom[/card][card]Critical Defenses[/card][card]Critical Agility[/card][card]Mystic Regeneration[/card]
with either [card]Way Of Perfection[/card] or [card]Dash[/card] or [card]Resurrection Signet[/card] as no.8
Generally the idea is too keep Mystic Regen up all the time, using Critical Agility and Critical Defenses right before you enter combat. If you have decent Crit Strikes you should be easily able to keep Critical Defenses up, sometimes this can take some getting used to.
I rarely use it (as I rarely play my Assassin this way), but when I use it I find I'm very satisfied, unless of course there is an enemy with enchantment removal.
For PvP though the most successful Assassins are "Get in, get out" ([card]Aura of Displacement[/card] FTW!)styles, usually though you can make some good pressure builds based off the above build, some other friends of mine have, I'm not like that, because I like to kill someone before they have time to counteract. If you wanted to be something apart from Spike/Pressure Assassin generally isn't a good choice because they are rarely good tank's, healer's or frontline fighters (like Dervish, Warrior and sometimes Paragon).

The critical defense Ms DB combo works well for me.

[card]Jagged Strike[/card]
[card]Wild strike[/card]
[card]Death Blossom[/card]
[card]Critical Strike[/card]
[card]Shadow Meld[/card]
[card]Critical Agility[/card]
[card]Critical Defenses[/card]
[card]Feigned Neutrality[/card]
Variants
[card]Twisting Fangs[/card] replace with DB or Critical strike (I'd remove CS)
[card]Moebius Strike[/card] Replaces Shadow Meld and take out Wild strike and jagged strike and put in [card]Golden Phoenix Strike[/card]
[card]Resurrection Signet[/card] Anywhere really (except attack moves =P)
[card]Dash[/card] Replaces Critical agility OR shadow meld
[card]Dark Escape[/card] read Above, can also replace feigned
[card]Way of Perfection[/card] For a different kind of heal or [card]Restful breeze[/card]
[card]Mark of Death[/card] When you feel like it.
If you build 2 of your hero's around it [card]Locust's Fury[/card]
can get you through pve nicely.
>.> thats just if you don't want to moebius Spam =P
In RA ...in theory you could run the above build (Replace Critical agility with Dash, Critical defenses too if you want! for res sig) and maybe change shadow meld to [card]Shattering Assault[/card] )
Dagger mastery is around 12/13
Critical strikes is about 10 or higher (depending if you have runes or not)
Shadow mastery: 6-10 (depending on runes and if you add a Deadly arts skill)

A build with decent Survivabilty and good pressure in ra I find is
[skill]Disrupting Stab[/skill] [skill]Exhausting Assault[/skill] [skill]Moebius Strike[/skill] [skill]Horns of the Ox[/skill] [optional skill here] [skill]Shadow Walk[/skill] [skill]Dash[/skill] [skill]Ressurection Signet[/skill]
Now for the optional I personally use [skill]Death Blossom[/skill] to help keep my target under 50% so I can keep it on its arse xD But you can use something like [skill]Shadow Refuge[/skill]
I have gotten quite abit of glads with the above build. The survivabilty comes from interupts and your shadow walk-dash and just playing smart really.

Absolutely no reason to run Jagged Strike. Golden Fox Strike is far better in PvE as you should always have Crit Agility on anyway.
And seriously... Shadow Meld?

And seriously... Shadow Meld? Thanks for that^.^, Oh there is a reason for jagged and Shadow Meld
In Pve...[card]Jagged Strike[/card] is a [card]Plague touch[/card] with [card]Epidemic[/card] and [card]Shadow Meld[/card] allows that [card]Dark Escape[/card] with [card]Vigorous Spirit[/card] so you can

Anyways, Shadow Meld like AOD, when you remove it will put you to where you CAST IT(or to the spot you warped to..I cant remember), you can precast Shadow meld in pve go cap a shrine/portal whatever in pve, then warp Right back not to bad if you have to defend a place on the fly.
Also you can warp to an ally when you need it most. Surrounded by enemies? Well Lets just Warp straight to the monk!

Love the skills in the sentences, Ensoriki. :P
As for not "Get in! Kill it! Get out!" builds, if you want good pressure you could, I suppose, play an assacaster.
But I'm assuming you don't like boring cookie cutter stuff like that, which I hope you don't, so try something like:
Golden Fox Strike->Wild Strike->Shattering Assault
If you have an enchantment, Golden Fox Strike becomes unblockable. Wild Strike and Shattering Assault are ALWAYS unblockable, so you eat through monk blocking. It's fun to deal double damage through Frenzied Defense. The monk realises your attacks are unblockable, and throws on Protective Spirit only for Shattering Assault to remove it.
It's pretty good, all the attacks have 4 second recharges, so there's very little time between your chains. Shattering Assault costs 10 Energy though, so some E-Management is gonna be needed if you plan on spamming your attacks (Zealous Daggers are always good, of course). You'll also want a long duration Enchantment with a short recharge to fuel Golden Fox Strike.
EDIT: Throwing Fear Me! and an IAS such as Flurry into a MS+DB build is good fun. Most of the damage is Bonus Damage which isn't reduced by Flurry. The high DPS and E-Denial (although it's not that spectacular) get to monks pretty quickly.

You talking about Fear Me? That's one of the craziest e-denial skills in the game!
Infact it's so good one would build around it (think Flurry, Locust's Fury)

I know it's good, yeah. Sorry, forgot to mention the fact I run low Tactics so I reach the 13 Crit Strikes breakpoint.

If you have decent Crit Strikes you should be easily able to keep Critical Defenses up, sometimes this can take some getting used to. I've been using the moebius deathblossom to vanquish cantha with. With high ranks in critical agility and the +15 while attacking insignia - this build has perma +10 regen, 110 armor, 75% block, and spamms armor ignoring damage. Heavy enchant stripping and heavy blocking will shutdown the build. For heavy blocking, just switch targets - the death blossom will still kill the blockers.
Some other assassin builds that are a TON of fun in my opinion for PvE:
Critical Barrage assassin (A/R with barrage, critical eye, way of master, critical agility & have a teammate cast Great Dwarf Weapon to put this build into overdrive - your attacks do extra damage and up to 40% chance of knockdown per hit)
Critical interupt assassin (A/R critical agility, disrupting accuracy, critical eye, way of the assassin = 80% interupts)
Critical Holy Damage Scythe Assassin
Assassin/Dervish - Take this guy down into Temple of the Damned - 300+ damage per swing with higher ranks in Kurzick - and hits multiple enemies. Versus necro hordes - it's the sickest thing I've seen.
Level: 20
[card]Eremite's Attack[/card][card]Mystic Sweep[/card] [card]Way of the Assassin[/card][card]Aura of Holy Might[/card] [card]Way of the Master[/card] [card]Critical Eye[/card] [card]Critical Agility[/card][card]Critical Defenses[/card]
Of course, I often switch out Critical Eye for another utility skill. For a weapon, I usually use a vampiric 20% longer enchant 15% while ench scythe.
Something I toyed with for a while - but went back to Moebius Blossom:
A/W Critical Axe - Cyclone Axe, Whirlwind Attack, "Save Yourselves", Critical Agility, Way of Master, Critical Defenses, Way of Perfection, Way of the Assassin. I used a q5 tactics shield, and then just spammed AOE. Almost everything is critical. In HM, I think the death blossom works better, but this was a pretty tough build for an assassin. Axe was 15% while ench, 20% longer ench, Furious mod.
One of the great things about the assassin is the ability to use most weapons and to be pretty good at it. That, and the specialized abilities of the assassin through shadowstepping and shadowform make them great for running and for farming as well.

Nice build but it seems that everyone comes up with exact build for some odd reason........It works well though always criticaling.
Just a quick question if you crit with a scythe on 3 targets do you get the mana return from all 3.

yes... u get the energy back from any and all critical hits
for example i ran barrage in 1 of the duncan related dungeons and had 5 energy left for 1 barrage attack...
well i had a fiew hits that criticalled and completely filled up my energy bar

Some very nice builds, the kind I can't get at PvX. I've been playing about with Temple Strike for a while now in RA and it's going pretty well. I used these skills:
Jagged Strike > Temple Strike > Horns of the Ox > Falling Spider > Wild Strike/Twisting Fangs > Shadow Refuge > Death's Charge > Rez
I only include Wild Strike because the cooldown for TS is horrendous so I can get another Knockdown off while waiting for it to recharge. I also use +5e daggers for management with 13 CS for the breakpoint. Sometimes I'll use Twisting Fangs rather than Wild Strike for pressure, but that makes me pretty useless for a few seconds, but also pressures to monk (alot of conditions on my target). Any thoughts?
(also, how do I get the skill icons to show up here?)

I'd drop Horns of the Ox for Twisting Fangs entirely. Dazed means you'll interrupt casters with every hit anyway, and it's not like those Blinded melee foes are gonna do much harm. Jagged Strike could then be replaced by another lead, say Leaping Mantis or Disrupting. Shame about the KD, yes, but not overly detrimental.

As you know Sins have multiple hexes eg [skill]Expose defenses[/skill] and if you combine it with the skill [skill]Rending sweep[/skill] you could add a lot of monk pressure. getting rid of thigswhich are commonly used like [skill]Guardian[/skill] and [skill]Shield of regeneration[/skill].
