Difference between districts

There are few out there but this what my friend from Sweden said to me. This is the same guy that went speechless when we went to a bar with a 5 dollar cover charge for all you can drink. After he promptly paid he turned to me and said if this happened in my country people would die. They would drink themselves to death

P.S. I lost touch with this friend and have tried many times to track him down. If anyone is in Kalix Sweden and is reading this and please pm me I can not read the Swedish Phone Book

My only experiences have shown that brits are mean. T_T 50/50 means I get one you get one! Not you get three I get none! o teh dramaz

If you want to be completely alone, it's European - Russian all the way :P

I'm Australian and I find that the Euro districts have gotten very bare of late and laggy, so I've actually been playing when I do play anymore, (long story that) on the American districts because they seem to have less lag than the Euro districts and that's where you find people to actually play with.

Personally, I play for enjoyment rather than gain. I steadily get things, but one aspect I love about the game is the constant arguments.

Some people may get annoyed when you die and someone says "YEAH, YOU TAKE IT LIKE YOU DO EVERY NIGHT WITH YOUR DAD!', but personally, I find it to be a laughable moment because on the bright side, you know you're better, and they're just jealous.

That's my two cents.

The Russian servers are great. Nobody uses them (there's like 10 people in Kamadan Russian 1 AT MAX).

As another Aussie I agree - the ping to US servers is better than the EURO servers because of the direct connections between Australia and USA West Coast.

Also, at e.g. 8pm East Coast Australia time it is something like 5am in USA so the servers aren't under load. This is great if you are playing with guildies but can make it harder to build a pug because there are a lot fewer people.

on a positive note, americans are mean, but thats only because they are young and their parents are very bad.

Australian primetime occurs right as the european kiddies are getting out of school which generally makes it the wrong place to be. I'll take playing with the US nightowls any day (even if they're loud cowboys ).

I would have to agree with the whole "Germans are organized" statement as well. One time me and a guildie were messing around in TA trying random builds and it was just him and me so we would get two more random people. We ended up getting these two other guildies who were doing the same thing we were. We were actually running a suicide necro build (on purpose, we got VERY bored. it was a long time ago and I'd appreciate it if I didn't get flamed for this) and these other guys (who were german as I found out later) invited us to their TS server and whatnot. We became friend and as I started hanging out with them, I could tell they were very organized and efficient. I even notice in other games, German guilds do pretty well.

And yea, hostile arguements get started quite often in the American districts. But if you find an American guild, you can see that there are cool-headed, mature Americans out there. Just don't let what they ("they" being the people who talk in local chat) say bug you, 9/10 times they are in their early teens and just starting to get hormonal.

Also, I should hang out more often in the European districts and see if I can pick up some German and French, lol.

One thing that is very common in German districts is that you get invited to a VoIP server, TS or Ventrilo.

Regardless of the difficulty of the task ahead or if you are a complete stranger or not. I do *not* like TS at all, outside of GvG or HA I personally do not deem it necessary to wear a headset, and I do not want to get too personal with my PUG, but I rarely PUG anyways.


I personally always am in the Italian district, few players and little lag. And I speak a little bit Italian, being a German myself, I consider visiting Russian districts only for the purpose of invasion.


The "Germans are organized" thing, is that not a stereotype dating back to pre-WWI??? Have you not met a german partyleader build-Nazi yet??? I am a bit sceptical, I also found many americans to be more laid back somehow. Sometimes I also have the impression as long as my german trade partners think I am a foreigner talking english, they do babble less BS and are more polite.

French: Gah.. I remember the slow times of the day where people from the French district would come to Eng to find a pug and couldn't even speak a word english. If you would get two they would speak French in team chat only to be followed by "I have no idea what you're on about, but you're going the wrong way".

German: I've used german districts myself in slow times in English districts, before we start I tell them my german isn't very good and if they mind if I reply in English. I've gone through the last few missions in Factions with germans as my guild wasn't there yet and English districts seemed deserted too.

Euro Eng v.s. AM: The avarage age of all chat users seems a lot lower in AM, during Halloween I spend time in both of these two and the American districs was clearly worse. Other then going there during one event and seeing one district I've no experience in the American districts, so can't really judge.

When I'm playing I tend to be in International districts.

With all-chat off they are all the same.

I usually just stay in int districts and go to us or europe-english to buy/sell stuff.

It's no stereotype. We ARE much more organized. Generally you're better off with German PUGs than with those in the English districts. The strict TS/Vent thing isn't exactly my piece of cake either but they want success as much as you want it, probably more than anyone else so it might give you the impression of them being less laid back.

We love exploiting zhe Auslaenders. Other than that we have to bear with Nazi comments all the time. It's of course the only thing people can throw at us because they are failures.

I am German myself... and found the opposite to be true. But maybe it has gotten better over the years. Or maybe just the Germans that are willing to work with non-native speakers are better qualified to succeed in PUGs. Germans being called organized people and stuff like that makes me wonder how unorganized others must be to make such a statement!

For trade I usually go to the English districts.
It might sound mean, but especially Americans like to pay 100+x ectos for every kind of crap, paying less seems to diminish the value of the item for them.

People do not recognize me as German and do not bother me with Nazi comparisons and jokes only Germans really care about. And even if they know my nationality, it just does not happen to me.


I think the Italian, Russian, Polish and Spanish Districts can also be recommend. They allow for lag-free grouping and shopping. OK - this was quite nasty. :>

Hmm, I play and trade in all Districts (American International and Europen). What I do notice is that some Americans really do end up flaming and cursing like mad at the slightest provocation. Although to say I have never had a bad trading partner anywhere becaus eI am polite and dont insult people. If someone would do that to me, then I would refuse trade (Buy OR sell) anyways.

I know from personal experience (been to the US a few times and am in a mostly US/Canadian guild) that most Americans are frinedly and no different than any other people... but there are enough idiots who think that because they interpret part of the American constitution in a specific way that it is their "god" born right to insult and abuse others. Those are more often the loudest and most prominent ones who drag the rest down.
The other thing which puts the US down is the current political leadership. People representign their country either put a good light or a bad light on their country as a whole for many people depending on how things are managed.

Well, thats enough bad/good things about the US. If anyone is insulted by the things I typed, then im sorry. It wasnt meant to be insulting. Just explaining the general Europen view of current US from a neutral standpoint (ie I personally dont care for some of the views)... And now for something completely different (quote for all you Python fans out there ).

International districts are too empty for me most of the time to be of any use (except for Vizunah square or Unwalking Waters missions).

European districts seem to be less laggy for some reasons (for me obviously, but also for my guildys from America from what they say) to the extent that the complete guidl was Euro server based back when you couldnt move freely between the districts. There are noticably less flaimbait and insults flying over the local chat lines, and if someone does start crap I have often seen half a district type gtfo or stfu to the starters. lol

As to missions, I havent failed more than once with a German PUG. If we do fail, then most of the players stay in the group and work on addapting to the sittuation before retrying and succeding, insted of shouting insults and ragequitting like I have experienced in enough US/English PUGs. They just seem to be more laid back and relaxed to me.

Italian district are kind of - well, dead land. It' very difficult to find a decent PUG. I tend to stay in English ones the 90% of time, and I agree with the curent opinion about German districts.

I found out that most German players are prepared and skilled enough for the task they're for. Always gave me an idea of "professionalism" :P

Dont worry about that. English is a compulsory language class here. Every german (at least the ones old/young enough to play GW) understand English. A few arent confident enough to answer back, but most will be happy to chat in english to you (probably german between each other, but thats another thing and probably wont have an effect on the mission).
