Whats the best way to get into the warrior class, (say you come in through a different perspective...like the assassins and dervishes)
And is there a way to get the -50 offhand without making a prophecies char.

Warriors are not exactly the same as sins or dervishes. They have totaly different damage output and defences. However they do share some of the same strategies as those classes. Some war builds are spike dmg dealers like sins and some are aoe dmg like dervish's.
If you are a little creative wars can be very flexible chars with lots of builds and playstyles. Never let anyone tell you a build doesn't work or is bad untill you've tried it yourself. You may find a build is very fun to play even if its not the most efficient.
As for the -50 offhand you must make a tyrian char or buy it off of a player.

IMO, dervishes and assassins are warriors w/ gimmicks. A warrior just goes in there and hits stuff; they don't rely on different enchantment effects to grant bonuses, and there's no combo system to speak of.
I was unoriginal w/ my warrior, and went w/mo. I use some monk skills to keep me alive, and a few strength or sword/axe skills to do damage - pretty standard fair.
I find the biggest draw to a particular class is if you are looking around and find a really cool sword or armor type, and want to get that yourself...
