Cannot Import AVI Into Windows Movie Maker

Help, Im trying to make another new farming guide, but my Windows Movie Maker and Cyberlink powerdirector both wont import Avi files without crashing (big or small)

I've tried

Installing new divx codecs
re-Installing k-lite codecs
re-Installing both movie editors

help
