Err, how exactly does one use this build as a monk? I have my bar set up as Vengeful was Khanei, Vengeful Weapon, Heal Area, 'I Am Unstoppable!', and Feel No Pain. I have Norn R3 and just radiant max armor. It seems that VwK can't outheal the damage I'm taking. Any tips?

none needed at all, as you usually won't be using any skills on the destroyers, it will never trigger.

This build rocks, got like 15 destroyer cores in 20 min.

I’m hesitant to start a new thread for this, as I think it fits so well with the original topic. Don't Feel No Pain, I’m sorry if this hijacks your thread, but I got to wondering if EoE actually did decrease the number of drops. So I put together a little test to find out, and here are the results.
The purpose of this experiment is threefold: (1. I was bored and needed something to do in between the “Time to Start: 30 seconds” waits (2. To prove or disprove that using EoE significantly affects the rate at which items drop (3. To establish average drop rates for items while farming Glint’s Challenge Here’s the technical stuff. Ignore this if you don’t care about statistics Equipment: To test, I'm using a Lvl 20 R/Rt with full Pyrebound Norn Armor, and no other upgrades. My skill bar is, from left to right: Vengeful Was Khanhei, Vengeful Weapon, Storm Chaser, and “I Am Unstoppable!" at Norn Rank 6. My character wields an Ebon Summit Axe of Enchanting w/ +5 Energy and a Victo’s Bulwark (-2 Damage while in Stance, HP +30). Pyre Fierceshot is wearing no armor upgrades except for a Superior Wilderness Survival. He is equipped w/ Quickening Zephyr, Conflagration, Greater Conflagration, and Serpents Quickness. For 25 runs, he will be equipped with Edge of Extinction; for the remaining 25 runs this skill will be disabled. The Method: See OP's original guide for technique. A run is considered successful only if the First Wave is completed. Incomplete runs were not logged. At about 4.5 minutes per run, one sample spans a little less than two hours. In my opinion, this is the minimum sample required to give a baseline comparison. I would have liked to go longer, but this literally took over 10 hours to finish - I simply don't have the time. I will, however, continue to populate my sheet over time. Data fields being recorded are as follows - White Items, Blue Items, Purple Items, Gold Items, Destroyer Cores, Gold Pieces, Dyes, and Lock picks. (I believe that separating the Lock picks and Dyes into their own categories is important, as it should be a separate drop system from collectible/martial drops.) Gold dropped is also tabulated. Please note that this is gold which was dropped by foes, not earned from the challenge, and the quantity is prior to pickup, i.e. has not been divided among the party. This is being tested in NM - I don't know how this would change in HM!!! On to the non-boring stuff, please! Raw Data - With EoE (Sample A): Average Number of Destroyer Core Drops: 1.6 per run Average Number of White Items: 3.56 per run Average Number of Blue Items: 1.24 per run Average Number of Purple Items: .16 per run Average Number of Gold Items: .08 per run Average Number of Lockpicks: .08 per run Average Gold Pieces per run: 25.64g Without EoE (Sample B): Average Number of Destroyer Core Drops: 1.76 per run Average Number of White Items: 3.52 per run Average Number of Blue Items: 1.04 per run Average Number of Purple Items: .2 per run Average Number of Gold Items:.08 per run Average number of Lockpicks: .0 per run Average Gold Pieces per run: 34.08g TOTALS: With EoE: Total Number of White Drops: 89 Total Number of Blue Drops: 31 Total Number of Purple Drops: 4 Total Number of Gold Drops: 2 Total Number of Lock Picks: 2 Total Number of Destroyer Cores: 40 Total Number of Dyes: 10 Total Number of Gold Pieces: 641 Without EoE: Total Number of White Drops: 88 Total Number of Blue Drops: 26 Total Number of Purple Drops: 5 Total Number of Gold Drops: 2 Total Number of Lock Picks: 0 Total Number of Destroyer Cores: 44 Total Number of Dyes: 4 Total Number of Gold Pieces: 852 Analysis: The data is pretty self-explanatory. 25 runs using EoE netted 40 Destroyer cores or an average of 1.6 per run, while not using EoE earned me 44 cores at 1.76 per run, a difference of only .16 per run. Although the sample B runs did return 4 more cores, I’m sure that with further testing this would flatten out, and was a the result of a small sample group. While item drops themselves were almost exactly the same (121 without EoE / 126 with EoE) the number of Dyes and lock picks were significantly higher while using EoE. As with the minor difference in Destroyer Cores, I believe that this is caused by the small sample group. From these statistics, we can assume that the general trend followed by the two sample groups will continue, and that EoE does NOT significantly affect drop rates. I did find that I was able to clear the groups slightly faster, and there was a noticeable difference in overall pressure as the large group at the beginning was quickly destroyed. However, having EoE equipped did not seem to make a drastic change; this may be different in some other builds that have a different profession or method. Bottom line: use EoE if you'd like or if it makes it easier for you. I don't believe that it would reduce the number of drops. As stated earlier, this data is for NM only, and may change in HM. I welcome any and all comments and criticism, and I would be happy to send my original sheets to anyone who would like to review it themselves. Xonare
Got stupid question, we farm all of it ? or only first wave ?
Second, to necro players, do you ever come to use those necro death magic skills ? Couse I barely have energy to spam the veng weapon, i'm unstopable and vwk xD ------ EDIT ------ I will now try to go 14 soul reaping + 12 restor -> no energy problem, will tell ya how it went. ------ EDIT2 ------ Yep, better strategy for Necro (N/Rt) is to go soul reaping. I got like this: 12 Restoration 12+1+1 Soul Reaping Eq: Herald's Insignia on whole armor 3*Rune of vitae 1*Major Vigor 1*Minor Soul Reaping Weapon axe/sword/spear +5e+30hp Shield +30hp Skill template: OAhiYwhMZxQ8UVRTiTCAAAAAAA Skills: VWK, Vengeful Weapon, Signet of Lost Souls, "I am Unstopable!", Feel no pain. Hero goes: Wildernes 16 Expertise 13 (dunno what for xD) Skill template: OgAScZMHIf7RHAAAAAAA Skills: Serpent Quickness, Quickening Zephyr, Greater Conflagration (also dunno what for couse necro dont get any armor for ele dmg xD ) Will make movie if anyone would like to see. Stimm
In regards to Ancient Menaces post.
I find your results very intriguing. Long has it been thought there is a TOD "bug". Given your results over the runs done , I can also assume that your data over 100 runs would even out as youve said. Ive been doing this run with my ranger for 2 days now using the posted build in OP with the addition of "air of superiority and standard of wisdom (vanguard ) , I dont know if they stack or not but it seems like my skills are recharging faster then using just QZ. One other question, when you are using VwK does it negate your item stats. Like if I have a staff with 20% recharge will it still be in effect? Im assuming not since you lose any health / energy upgardes when you hold the item. Zodiak

Unfortunatly you do lose the bonuses of the weapons your holding since your holding an item other then your weapons.
The benefit of having them is that whatever energy bonus is on them will kick in once you drop your ashes, sometimes giving you the much needed energy to recast something else. Xonare
Got my warrior there -> Hard Mode ^^
How about recharge bonus, it should applay when you're casting spell, but when you finish casting it, weapon changes to ashes, and then does recharge applay for the spell when it's cast or just after it which makes question does it work or not ? Another question: What damage do destroyer shooters do ? Piercing or physical ? And if I put greater conf would they shots be converted to fire (couse it is said it convert physical dmg to fire) ? I ask about couse, then it could be wise to bring shield with +10 armor vs fire for this few mili seconds that you dont have Ashes in hands ^^ Also if they do piercing than we should bring winter and +10 armor vs cold, and can take axe/sword/spear +7 armor vs elemental (imo better than 30 health xD) What you guys think ? Skinny Corpse
well, I've finally tried this out with my warrior.. works great.
But I guess I'll have to stick to NM tho.. something keeps killing me in in HM and I can't even figure out what. Anyhow.. cores for me. Estic
Short question, don't know if it's been asked before haven't read the full thread.
Would EoE be useful here? The Destroyers all take damage but as far as I saw in your vid they don't go down at the same time but will be below 80% health. Or does Pyre run out of energy then? Puff Dizzle
Successfully farmed HM with a Ranger, only done it once will post a screenie later.

I liked usin EoE on hero they all go pop its funny.
enishicz
my biggest question: doesn't the fact that you are bringing a hero decrease your drops significantly?
Abedeus
Yeah, but it's worth it. You can just bring a player and split drops/cores.
Eldin
Just wanna compliment you.
This build works great! Made some fair spending money on my Ranger doing it last night (about 4 complete runs) - a Silver, Blue, and Purple dye, about 3k from merchant items, and 11 Destroyer Cores. I screwed up a bit near the start, I think the weakest link is the point when your hero must replenish QZ - you gotta be careful and not use VwK during the time when it's down, else you're screwed with the 20 second recharge. knives
I bring EoE to speed up the runs. I still get about 2-5 cores per run (usually) with or without it so I don't know if the "mass killing" hypothesis has been proven to drastically reduce drops. Just something to note.
Arnack
Did they nerf it in HM? I can't survive the spiked: 15 str, 12 rest...
vengeful lasts for 10 seconds and steals 29 health of course- I keep up everything just like in the video, but my health spikes down the first 10 seconds (usually after endure pain ends) Durin_Kane
There has to be away to do this run in HM with a rit. I've tryed to do it in Hm with a 330 hp without retribution and a ranger hero but keep getting spiked by Lamentation.

But sometimes you just seem to have bad luck and they blast you to pieces within seconds. *edit* And I just realized I've got 14 strength. The.D0pefish
i just looked through ur post and was confused about one thing:
why would you use conflagration ghosts when doing this as w/rt ? you lose 20 AC well nvm. saw that ur using sentinels Arnack

Yes, that's with my W/Rt.
What I've noticed tho is that when the destroyers on one side falls a bit behind it really gets harder, as you don't get as much attacks/healing from VwK. You're not trying to solo HM are you? Arnack
Yeah I am.. just like the OP.. he has a video of him soloing it in HM (with the ranger)
Skinny Corpse
Alright, so you DO have the ranger hero along? I got the impression you're trying
this solo.. wich I can't see happening other than in NM. Arnack

Kurt
Maybe a stupid question but how much would this make an hour?
Dante the Warlord
Gah this is impossible in HM please someone help, i can't do it here! I step by step directions (i saw the vid, but i can't do it like that)!!!! I have 31 energy and still have trouble doing this once endure pain ends and I spike i lose. Has ist been nerfed?
EDIT: would be great for a w/rt to show me in game |
