I deathleveled a lynx with a level 8 ranger and got it to level 13.
Was i right to assume that it would not get xp from me after getting 5 levels above me?
Since then I reached to level 10 and the lynx hasnt leveled any more. Does a pet higher level then you get xp?

I'm not sure about pets, but I know that heroes who are a higher level than you do get xp in combat.

The difference is those heroes aren't killing you. I kind of doubt your pet-to-be can continue getting xp for long if you're only level 8.

Technically you can death level a pet to your level +6, as it still gains XP when it is 5 levels above you.
Pets do gain XP even if above your level, but they will be gaining less per kill (if you solo kill a level 10 enemy at level 10 you gain 100 XP, but the pet would be slated for 64 according to theory) and require more per level (after all, we need more for higher levels). Additionally, they get no XP from quests and missions, nor do they benefit from hunts or scrolls.
