Seeing your own design running around would be so much fun! And then whenever you saw people randomly wearing them throughout the following years as well! It's the prize that keeps on giving (...prizing? :P)
I sent in my entry today. At first I panicked and thought I missed the deadline but I'd just calculated PST wrong so it was all good (I'm on GMT +10) ;D
Even if I don't place, this is going to be so great. No amount of smiley faces can express my excitement for this competition!

Well wanted to keep the spirit of former horns and here is new grenth` undead rudolf hat! yay...
Here are two versions. I sent the one with hood!
btw Piglou that lich mask is awesome! It would be really great having it ingame! Only problem is that it isnt quite suitable for christmas but me likes.

dude, my entry successfully represents all three ppl above...it's a ram skull with icicles hanging from the horns. That's awesome ;P

haha I had the same idea as well! But due to tons and tons of papers I had to write I couldn't finish my concept sketch. I really do hope yours win, it blew my sketches out of the water.

You're telling us the hourglass staff was designed by Kryth, entered in the "design a weapon" contest once, didn't win anything, and later got introduced anyway without proper credit to the designer!?
That would be a lame trick... That's like saying: "Wow, we really like your design, and we're going to use it too, but sorry, no prizes for you, because we're gonna use it for something different, and therefore it has nothing to do with the DAW-contest anymore." :S
I'm curious to see what non-winning nominees we'll see in the BMP tomorrow :P

Haha, no, I think the bonus item designers got something, because I remember Gaile posting in all the forums asking if anyone knew where to find Kryth. And they got a special page on the website too. But wouldn't you much rather your design be used for something everyone can have instead of a rare drop you have to farm or buy in LA? I think it's great they're having the hat design contest, because it's something you get just for having fun at the festival. You don't have to buy anything or farm anything or play all the way through to decide which one of the special items you want.

I mean yes I wasn't on the main winners (and mentions) list when the first batch of winner designs were announced but, I don't think I was treated unequally in regards to recognition. I got gifts too for that matter. And at the end of the day, it's the joy of seeing people with your design in their hands (or hopefully on top of their heads 
) playing the game. About the accesiblity of the item; I think it doesn't really matter if it's really high end or not, becuz when it is high end; it's recognized more in-game, as an item. And when it's not, well, then the more ppl use your thang the better right?
Guess I'm an optimist =)
