Dervish Tank Build For Slavers Exile?
TheProfiler
Hello, i just registered, this being my 1st post here.
I wanna know, has anyone tried out tanking with Derv in slavers, Duncan and other bosses, and if yes plz share ure experiences.
So far i did Duncam million times being a monk, but Derv is my primary and i grind all my titles on him, also i need this to complete Dungeon Books on HM and NM.
So if anyone can post what build would be best for Duncan and/or other bosses, and what equipment would be best to use id be grateful. Guess it shouldnt differ much from DoA D/E build, but i never have been tanking anything yet so...
All the times i did Duncan (with ma Monk-ey) still I've neva seen a single derv tank.
Thnx

I haven't tried, but i'm guessing it would be the DoA OF tank. Although from what i hear, a tank isn't needed in slavers'.

A tank isnt needed in Slavers?!?
A good tank is the KEY in Slavers. Without him there's no doing it.
Usually W/E obsi is most common, I had an ele tank Rand/Thommis once.
Guess it would be possible that prot monk be tank at the same time leaving one more space for nuker or ss, but theres no way u can do it without any kind of tank.

A "tank" is not needed for slavers unless you are in a bad group, in which case it might be a safe bet. If you have a somewhat competent group take a damage dealing build instead. I have played with lyssa, melandru and even grenth Avatars there, imo a Melandru build works best.

Well that is true yes, but if i go with dmg-dealing build its still tanking.
The idea is to bodyblock however u can, else casters will be erradicated in seconds. So whatever build one takes its still tanking.
Im just after the most effective one...

Generally that is what i run in slavers, hitting for 100+ dmg isnt uncommon and i have LOTS of fun running this in there.
*Thommis/Rand area can get dicey at times since there seems to be more encht removal in there then the other.
*Selv get tricky too sometimes but i usually dont die against him, since he uses Defile Enchantments be sure to keep PS on. Watch for Gaze of Contempt too and quickly get your prot back on. The touchers are a bitch in all forms, lol, they are just annoying.
*In Forge PS helps a lot vs the end boss since he is very spikey.
*In duncan you just gotta know where to position yourself and know where the pops are.
In all of the areas SoA helps a lot no matter who is tanking, whn i monk in there i cast SoA on the tank and not worry about him for a lil bit then i can use my other skills on my other party members.
Good aggro control helps a lot and can make a big difference between a bitch of a run and a smooth run. It always helps to do slavers as a caster for a while 1st and see what an experienced tank does and learn from that.
EDIT:
oh yeah this is for NM, HM would probably smoke this, lol. Learn derv tanking in NM 1st anyway. gl & hf

thnx, usefull info...
Now just to find a team that wont bitch like nuts for one leaked aggro...
I did it many times as caster, so i generally know all the hotspots for aggro, and where popups are.
Well, pactice makes it perfect.
Ill try this NM then start thinking about HM aswell, lately i try to do all things in eotn HM to fill up books and get my ranks maxed out.

in many areas "leaked aggro" is the casters fault cuz they came up too soon to start their thing. But it is also on the tank to hold aggro too, lol.
just roll in a guild group and things are always much more pleasant, my guild does slavers a lot and its always fun stuff, we generally pump out 2 in an hour unless we have some hiccups.
gimmie a shout when your gonna do some slavers i'll probably be interested in going myself as well as might have some guildies interested in some Slavers action too

Im just after the most effective one... Sorry semantics but this bugs me. A Tank is a damage sponge. Tanks deal minimal to no damage and just sit there holding aggro and soaking up damage. A Damage dealing build does not generally have the same defensive soaking capabilities but delivers a much higher damage output. If the idea is to body block to protect the backline though then an EDA dervish would sound ideal since even if you lose the aggro of the mob they are too blind to kill your backline.

EDA is playing too safe imo, I like to go DMG and whatever i have room for left in skill slots i put into defense, if i think i'll still get beat down then i go a lil more towrds defense

Your Build as a Dervish For Any Slaver's Dungeon Should revolve Around this:
Obsidian Flesh <- Obvious
StoneFlesh Aura <- Damage Reduction
Glyph of Concentration <- Prevent Inturupts on Key Spells
Conviction <- Easy Armor or Health Regeneration
Fleeting Stability <- Anti Knockdown OR Mystic Regeneration <- Survival
Aura of Thorns/Veil of Thorns <- A Snare
Armor of Sancticity <- Synergizes with the Above for Further Damage Reduction
Vital Boon <- Health Boost
Your weapon set should give you maximum energy, preferably with no cost to you, like 15/-1's, and give you a 20% Enchanting Mod.
Your armor should be max of course, but For Runes, Major Earth Prayers, and minors on all else,
As for Attributes, your attributes Should be 12/12 Earth Prayers, Earth Magic.
Profession, Obviously, D/E.
Tank like a normal Tank would. All there is to it.

Do you need to move around much? If not it may be worth using Armor of Earth instead of Conviction in some situations - gives a much bigger armor boost. It is an enchantment, of course, which means it can be stripped, but that depends what kind of enemies are in Slaver's (I haven't played it myself).

if seen some people run ursan blessing when tanking in there

All you need for derv tanking is Vow of Silence, Conviction, mystic regeneration, vital boon, Signet of Pious Light, Mystic vigor, Heart of Fury. feel free to fill in the blanks. Derv tanking is simple. Spam regen, throw VoS up. VoS expires throw up enchants again as fast as possible and VoS. I solo so many places in HM with my derv using VoS spam regen. people who say use Obsidian Flesh are refering to pre-nerf. VoS is the best spell immunity skill now. most of the time i don't even take signet of pious light, but its a good idea with a party in case you need condition removal or such, as Signet of Pious Light removes the last enchantment on you. Hope this helped ;D make sure to warn your party you're running VoS!!! and ping when VoS is on you. armor should all have windwalker's insignias as well. Max out mysticism and earth prayers, throw the rest into scythe mastery. Seeing as you will have about 8 scythe mastery this build is pure tanking, Not meant for much damage. You need +20% enchantments as well!
saint666
Tank isn't needed for slavers, did slavers HM with 2 people and heros. SoS, ST Spirit Prot, frozen soil, then the rest is dps/heals/utility-things like enchant removal and panic helps.

The person who asked for the build isn't here anymore.

The question was about has anybody used a Derv to tank at slavers, not whether they're needed or not. Some of us like to use our dervishes. Just SoSing is generic and boring. I'm doubtful you completed the whole dungeon with 2 heros in HM as well. When people do Slavers its just for the chest, unlike CoF, so beating it as fast as possible with a full party is the best, anyone who can beat it with two people had ought to know this.
