An advice about the usage of Ursan tank

Keepers of Chaos

I've already completed once the Slaver's Exile dungeon with my ranger, using normal skills (BHA or splinter barrage depending on the subdungeon).

This evening I'm repeating with some friends, and in the meanwhile I reached level 10 in delver and level 8 in norn title.
So I'd like to try this ursan blessing, but since I'm not expert in tanking (and in the previous experience we didn't use a tank at all) I'd like to have some "strategy" tips.

Basically, when playing as ursan tank, which is/are my targets? Do I have to stay in front of the enemy warriors and try to block them, or do I have to run to the healer trying also to carry with me the warriors?

For further information, we're planning to do the dungeon with 2 human barragers (my friends) and heroes (3 necros + healers).

Thanks for any advice about that.

Ursan 'tank' doesn't actually tank and if you try you're doing it wrong ... it's a straight out damage dealer with AL and HP buff. If your normal weapon is melee range, go up close and smash face, if ranged stay with the support characters and KD any enemy melee that meanders in.

Just spam 1,2 and 3, only use 2 if you are close to opponents.

Yeah, don't tank in the original sense of the word. Play like a squishy. Kill the monk, kill the nukers, kill everything else in pretty much that order. You don't have to try and hold aggro, you should have a traditional tank to do that. Also make sure and call your targets, especially if using heroes.

Ursan Tank is a tank, if done this way......

Load up the rest of your bar with tanking skills such as damage reduction, health, etc. As a warrior/ele I use skills like Signet of Stamina, Endure Pain, ward of weakness, armor of earth, etc. Depending on your secondary, you can also take things like ward against harm, mantra of flame, elemental resistance, etc. You can also take things like pain inverter, radiation field, finish him, etc.

Grab aggro of enemy groups on a corner, so that the enemy must go through you to get to the rest of your team. While piled up against you, use your tanking skills. The rest of your group then casts against the group of enemies from behind you. When your health begins to drop, or when there are just a few enemies left, switch to ursan and mop up.

With some groups such as restless spirits (ghosts), just go full Ursan and kill along with your allies.

Leader-Legion of Avalon [LoA] Alliance-Recruiting PM for info!

If you're the only Ursan it prolly won't work. If you want to use blessings to tank, you're prolly better off going Raven and then having a monk bond you up the wahzoo.

My advice-have your buddies also run UB. As for the composition of your team, it would depend on you're team-I'll assume you have 2 humans:

Thommis/Rand
1 set of Sab's N/Rt's, with duplicate Healer and MM. You might even replace the SS with an Echo Savannah Heat build (with Teinei's heat and Meteor Shower). Everything here is fleshy, so you can easily support 2 MM's. I normally go left, kill group on the bridge and then go over the hill, and into that other room and make my approach to Thommis that way (otherwise you run the risk of some serious agro). After that go about as normal.

Selvetarm
This is prolly the easiest one. Cut back on one MM (not so much fleshy stuff here) and pack in one more AoE (either another SS or Echo-SH). For that first room with the key, just set up at that corner and go about as normal. If you ahve 2 echo-sh's with you-they'll go down quickly in conjuction with UB.

Forgewight
Just ignore any and all corpse exploits. Not many bodies here (except for the occasional Stone Summit). If you're running fire based eles, take Winter. About half the enemies here are fire based. For the door, you can try to fight through it, but I don't recommend it. Just flag heroes off to the side move your UB's down there and hope for the best.

Duncan
I've posted how I did this in the Duncan thread. Really easy

As for what to take down first-usually there's enough AoE going off that everything will die lol.
Just keep in mind that the healers don't pack a rez-it's the non-healers that have 'em. So if you take down the monks first, then they'll get rezzed....but if you go after teh rezzers...then the monks heal. Just AoE everyone and you're set!

For general UB make sure you have something that gives a little extra energy-My tank uses an Earth offhand (and a +5 energy sword-so with radiant I'm up to 45) and I bring the wards that slows 'em down the one that makes 'em miss-while I dont' get a chance to use them in every agro before I go furry, they are nice in an early pull.

My alliance did a Thommis/Rand run with N/Rt healer, monk, echo SH and 5 UBs-took about 45-50 minutes to do both.

Happy Hunting!
