PvE/PvP help

I recently came back to GW and I bought all the campaigns and EOTN. I really came back for the PvP and HvH although PvE does slightly appeal to me. My question is this: What are the items/skills that cannot be unlocked by a PvP only toon that you would aquire in PvE or in other words what benefits may a PvE toon have over a PvP only toon besides knowing the abilities better?

You can unlock pretty much everything important with a PvE character as you play through the PvE game. PvP characters can unlock all of the important stuff by playing PvP and trading in the Balthazar faction they earn in the arenas.

However, the majority of the flashy armor styles and weapon skins can only be found in PvE. The equipment that PvP characters can generate for themselves is more about functionality than vanity, and in general only has the basic styles on offer.

So there seems to be nothing to gain in PvP by making a PvE toon other than skins.

What about unlocking spells, would it be faster to unlock them in pve? I guess that would be one benefit to it. I guess I'm just trying to see if theres any real reason to pve, it's not that I hate it but I remember I got a pve toon to 20 and when I went to turn in my faction points it said I could only use them on a pvp toon lol.

If your really big into pvp, you can get your guild into automated tournaments and get reward points, which are used to get high end PvE skinned weapons and elite armor, they do require quite a bit o' points though. And it is per character and not recorded across your account.

Interesting, yet another strike against getting any pvp value from doing pve.

Well, they are just trying to make it fair for both styles of gameplay.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting anything from PvE to be better than what a pvp toon can pick and choose from but at least maybe different in some ways which would allow for more detailed customization but I guess PvE doesnt even offer that.

IF all you want to do is PVP, there is no reason to play PVE. Except... the time spent playing through the storyline has more different situations than arenas tend to so you *may* learn more if you allow yourself to. The skills and cash to buy skills are easy to obtain in pve. Also the gold you can earn in pve can help you BUY any vanity weapons and extra swaps you might want to use.

I actually have made all of my PVE characters PVP ready, and any PVE character can be made ready for PVP but not vice versa. In the end its really about what you enjoy though. Just play what you wanna and have fun.

low req shields for monks are only available in PvE and there are some items which have mods that cannot be crafted in the PvP item creation tool
