Is Remains of Sahlahja broken or do I just have horrible luck?
Vinraith
I've played this mission 20 times since I started counting, have gotten a score between 40 and 100 every time, have killed at least 4 maddened spirits every time, and have only gotten an armor remnant out of it once. I don't understand what's going on here, but I just want my damn armor remnants so I can never get in a Junundu ever again.
Yes, I'm whining, but I'm also genuinely curious if anyone else is getting drops. There's no one in the outpost selling armor.

I did the mission a lot when I was going for the Elona Mapping title... and I don't think I even got one armor remnant. Brb Gonna go post my own thread whining about it.
Sasuke The Betrayer
Err, I'm afraid you might have to kill more then just 4 maddened. I notice when I last longer i get more armors. A good tactic is to stick by a greater infestation when you think a spirit is gonna come. Once you see the spirit, you should have weakened it before hand and kill it. Toss a siege at the maddened spirit, throw a rock (wand or staff) and then hit skill #3, the bite. You can kill them using this and only take damage once at most if done correctly.
Zeek Aran
When I was mapping the area, I left with 4-6 armors.
xDusT II
You have a higher chance of getting the armor remnants from the Lost Souls. Trying going for them.
pumpkin pie
hrmz, must be my luck, i've been doing that forever and no armor!
eudas
it's just you.
i mapped this zone, played the game, and got 5 armor pieces over the course of, eh, 1-2 hrs.
now, from a game balance perspective, i would guess that they back-load it to prevent farming, such that if you stay alive longer and score higher, you have increasing chance to get ancient armors, but there's nothing documented about that. stay alive as long as you can, and kill as many maddened spirits as possible without dying. my last run i stayed alive to 117 pts, and got like 2-3 armors in 1 run.
follow the advice on the wiki article and you should be able to succeed quite nicely with an hour or so of play. but don't get all antsy about getting the armors -- play the game and enjoy it for what it is, and focus on scoring as high as you can, and the armors will come with time.

eudas This is the fundamental problem, really. Junundu, for me, are about the least fun thing in the entire game. I suck with them horribly, for one thing, and they're always the same so there's nothing I can do to suck less. I've followed all the wiki advice but I've still only ever cracked 100 once. I fear that is required for the remnants, and is thus the source of the problem, but I really, really don't want to have to do that again. Ah well. I should quit bitching and go play.
Sorry for the QQ thread, folks. Move along, nothing to see here.
Edit: FYI, just went ahead and bought them. I'll have a lot more fun and a lot less frustration making back the money spent than I would continuing to bang my head against this particular wall.

Sorry for the QQ thread, folks. Move along, nothing to see here. Well they're not always exactly the same. They either have or don't have Seige.
So I suppose there's 2 types.
As for the mission. I don't find the armor drops there to be particularly rare...

Silly Warrior
You may simply have bad luck.
Yawgmoth
Heavy antifarm code has existed in this mission even back at NF release. The first couple of runs had a high chance of dropping 1 or more armors but if you continued playing and finished with similar scores the chances for getting even one armor were going near zero.

AFAIK, Lost Souls don't drop armors anymore, and even if they did they're a pain in the ass to hunt down.
EPO Bot
I think Shadow nexus has even worse drop rates. Three to go...
As for the best way to kill the spirits: Have full adrenaline when it appears, kill greater infestation before spirit reaches you, smack it down with smash, get 500 health with bite and finish it of with strike. Repeat until there are two or three of them at the same time. No idea how anyone ever got 1000 points in this place.

Shadow Nexus drops are decent, until you get the last armor you need. Then it's about nonexistant. I got four armors in one run there last week. Haven't gotten another since.
A_Muppet
That's the way the code works-they didn't want you farming and selling hero armour, so you should get about 3-4 drops (Enough for yourself) before the drop rate nose-dives for you.
Onarik Amrak
Shadow Nexus is pretty easy too if you max out LB.
Konrow
its pure luck really as seen above. i mapped it and played it a few times and not one remnant. Depends on how lucky you get just like most drops.

You don't even really need to max LB for that one, at least in NM. It's a fairly easy matter to get a score in the 150-range, which is all you seem to need to have a chance at an armor piece.
Savio
Scores are irrelevant to drops. It's based on killing a specific creature in the mission.

All I know is I've never gotten an armor piece from Shadow Nexus without having cracked 100 and then killed a portal mage.

I could not agree more. This challenge mission just sucks. Who wants to play a MMORPG...solo?! Kind of defeats the "MMO" purpose of it. The Sahlajahrajaharalhja (why does the name have to be so freaking hard to spell?) CM is about as innovative as online Tetris. Cheers man, I grant you 5 internets for this thread. Dr Strangelove

I got it my first try, i thin you just have bad luck.
TechnoSword
Well i have gotten the top score twice without ever getting a single armor remnant. I think it was because prior I played it several times for armor pieces. But since then I have never gotten any. Scores were at 300 and 600 I think, when I didnt get an armor piece. Sometimes I think theres a set amount of armors your allowed to get
Kusandaa
Oh boy I hate this mission. I did it a lot for my mapping title and I swore never doing it again. When I want armor remnants, I'll just buy 'em. Will save me some frustration because I'm just horrible at it and I don't feel the need to improve at it either.
cosyfiep
this thread may have been necro'd but its still relevant .....been working on my titles and yep only seem to get the buggers on the first try even when I scored much higher on subsequent runs....guess I need to get some of my other characters over to this mission if I want to get all their heroes outfitted with new armor......(only doing m of whispers and tahlkora for that one but still have lots of characters ....)

I just recently got my armor remnants.
100% random chance. Has nothing to do with your score at all. I got a piece on first kill, I got a piece on a kill with 150ish points, and again on 30ish points. All you need to do is kill a maddening spirit (Haven't gotten any from lost souls, but haven't tried really. I just camp near the greater and kill the maddening.) As an aside. The mysterious armor ones are a pain. Been trying to get those ones and still need 2 more. Many kills and only got 3. Bad luck. exploiter
mapping gave me 3 remnants in about 5 runs, approx 2 spirits killed each run
Shadow
When mapping, I obtained a surplus of armor and relatively high score. (200+)
How many more do you need/want? cosyfiep
I still have about 10 more characters that need them (its 22 left for me)...but I think I will do it the hard way.....never got one on the first try...usually need a score around 70 for me to get one....
Red Sonya
Ancient Armor Remnants can only be obtained in the Remains of Sahlahja Challenge Mission. It does not drop, but instead appears in players' inventories at random as a reward after killing a Lost Soul or Maddened Spirit.
You will not receive Ancient Armor Remnants for every Lost Soul or Maddened Spirit you kill. They are randomly given to the player. mllepandora
I don't really mind the fact that A-net limits the amount of armor drops one receives per character, but I wish the "randomness" was improved a bit
I eventually got all of my pieces-- after much frustration on my part. (Esp. in the desolation) As other posters mentioned, I got the first 4 pieces in the Shadow Nexus pretty quickly. Didn't get the last piece until about a month ago, when a guildie wanted to get his pieces. I switched characters after reaching the limit, and my rit was able to get at least one piece while we were there. At least the EoTN hero armors (and perhaps, DoA) aren't based on such a mysterious drop code. (they are, of course, harder to obtain, as a result.) Still getting all the armor styles for the heroes I have is a daunting process.. Savio
Armor drops aren't limited, and the Ancient Armor Remnants don't drop from Lost Souls.

As far as being "completely random drops", I have to disagree...but, I won't be doing this mission any more, just going to buy the armors at this point. |
