I think is a icon wich tell you want kind of text input you are using.

Chinese/japanese/normal western alphabet etc etc.

Looks like a photoshop lol... never seen something like that before. If it's not a photoshop you might want to contact ArenaNet if you can't get an answer here.

try pressing ctrl + space a couple of times depending on the number of input method you should get it to disapear soon

Is not, it appear only if you have more then one input method installed on your computer.

It's just an text input for japanese/chinese/etc, you get that by pressing Alt+Shift twice on your chat.

Something similar happened to me a long time ago. I think it was during a Gaile visit. I shrugged it off as some sort of lag.

It's not photoshop

It looks so non-Guild Wars-ish, same with the picture you get when you have an item in your inventory that doesn't have the icon yet due to an outdated gw.dat or corrupted gw.dat.

i can do it too, it is very easy, just install a 2nd language in your windows, and while you in the game, push Ctrl+shift, then push shift, and here u have it

It used to happen to me all the time when i had ctrl set as my ventrilo push-to-talk key.

On topic.. yes it's the asian language indicator, it comes up if you press ctrl and space or have korean/jap/etc installed.

Yeah, I work with multiple keyboard language settings and this shows up rather often in my chat bar. AFAIK, it's for Chinese, Japanese and Korean language settings, since they use more than one alphabet. Could apply to other non-latin-based alphabets, I don't know. x].

I used to use it to type japanese for fun. Too bad it doesn't work in local on my account.
