Petition-remove Brutal Mauling.
A_Muppet
For those of you who don't know, the brown bears in Tyria have a skill called Brutal Mauling. It takes 2 seconds to use, where the bear rears onto it's hind legs, doing an attack that does...
...absolutely nothing different to a normal attack.
The point behind this, it needlessly slows down a bear's attack rate. It does absolutely nothing except pointlessly hinder it-the polar bears in eotn don't do brutal mauling, and none of the other pets have anything like this. The only redeeming feature is it triggers paragon shouts, but that most certainly doesn't outweight the downside.
So please, it's utterly pointless-just put the wretched 'skill' out of it's misery.

Good to know that polar bears don't do Brutal Mauling, maybe I'll think about getting one, now that I know how big they get.
Also, what's a Paragon?

that or give the widow the legendary "poison" attack.

NF class.
/undecided. its a feature imo...just like minions going crazy in cutscenes.

I like watching my bear go up on it's back legs to smack things. Is fun to see, who cares if it slows attack rate? I <3 my bear enough that I don't care

The skill originally did 5 seconds of bleeding, if anyone cares to know. Widows might have had some sort of "Poison attack" in the Betas, but no one has come forward with evidence of it.

no point to a skill that does nothing

though it would be nice if each pet had its own unique attack

They'll consider it for Guild Wars 2. I don't think anyone will get that.

do not touch my bear! (s) me favourite pets
it is also the only pet attack skill capable of activating a paragon shout, leave it alone, find yourself another pet. :P

It doesnt matter at all if you think it's such a big deal just get another kind of pet

I understand that one might say "go get another pet".
While I don't have one myself, this is simply bad game mechanics at play, and consequently should be reworked.

Or have some bears that use this and some that don't that you can cap. That way those who want their pet to use a cute little useless attack skill can keep it, and those that want a useful pet can get it too.
Or they can be cool and make brutal mauling unblockable.

They have this, the bi-polar bears cant BM. Its a bear skin that doesnt slow down to stand up and smack stuff. Makes it useless to the paragon, and usefull for those of us who play ranger and want a bear. So
/unsigned as the problem is taken care of. The skill is useless as a whole but it does work for the paragon so that makes people happy. Its not godly so theres no "its over powered" argument.
As for the unblockable that give it an advantage over other pets, unless they are taking on skill to the other pets then no. Which I know its crappy of me to say they keep their lame skill and the moa doesnt get anything. The moa has its mighty screeching. so shut up.

Black Moa gets to be in HoM but not bear...

/signed. Either remove it or give it to all pets and decrease the activation time so it's the same as an attack and Paragons can use it.
pumpkin pie
in that case, make all pets type displayable in HoM

The only Paragon shout that wouldn't be completely ftl with this is Anthem of Envy, and that will only work once per battle. Anthem of Envy gives adrenaline, which just means the pet uses the skill more, Anthem of Flame causes a condition, someone else in the party can trigger it. All the others are party member only.

I say make some of them deal blunt damage, and remove brutal mauling.

Signed to remove the skill or change it to an area-wide knockdown or something. ;-)
In short, make it do something or remove it at all. The current skill is just l.a.m.e.

it makes even less sense now with the current pve state of imba power.
this is how i would see it:
spider = 20% chance of poison for 2 - 8 seconds.
bear = 20% chance of KD for 1 -3 seconds.
wolf, croc = 20% chance of deep wound for 2 - 6 seconds.
hyena, those funky reptiles = 20% chance for disease for 2 - 8 seconds.
crab = 20% chance of cripple for 2 - 6 seconds.
lynx, lion, lioness = 20 % chance of bleeding for 2 - 8 seconds.
raven, moa, flamingo = 20% chance of blind for 2 - 6 seconds.
etc...as it stands theres is NO difference between pets...and things like brutal maul even though useless, do make the pet a little more "special".
yes i know its dumb.
Edit:
aahhh changing my undecided to:

Because this is GW.
All weapons are the same, all in level 20 with all skills unloecked are the same.
All are equal.
If there were a way to save change pets quickly, there won't be any problem. But you have to either capture one at level 20 or train one, and that is not fast.
All PvP characters have to go with their Elder Wolves... so it would be not fair.

pvp should have pvp pets anyways, that and you could disable the added attack skill on pets for pvp.
either way works.

At least a pet tamer to change between Black (Dire) Grey (Elder ) and White (Hearty) wolves.

Alternatively, give it a use in PvE and disable it for the sake of equality in PvP.
Edit: Actually, Paragon shouts work on Brutal Mauling.
