i have prophecies, faction, nightfall and eotn and have 8 slots now
if i buy 1 more prop does that give me 8+2=10 slots?
(prop + fac + nf + eotn + prop )
or is 8 the max with campaigns?

You can only have one of each chapter/campaign on each account. If you want more slots, they can be purchased through the on-line store link on your character selection screen.

The 1st campaign you activate gives you 4 slots. Any subsequent campaigns give you 2 more slots. GW:EN is considered an expansion, not a new campaign, so it doesn't give any new slots. If you want more character slots, they can be purchased from the ANet online store or in the sign-in area of the game; last I checked, they were $9.99 per slot.
