I think I managed to "quit" GW for all of a couple weeks... I came back. Why did I come back? Why does anyone who "quits" come back? How many of you have resolved to quit and then come right back?

Well, at least the treasure spawns are reset now, I can go out and get some good stuff, maybe.

Why go through all the trouble of trying to 'quit' a game? If you like it, play it. If you don't, or it's boring for you now, don't play it. If you get interested in it again, play it again.

I never quit because I made a promise to myself or anything - if I am no longer enjoying the game, then I take a break for a while. I look at computer games as fleeting - if I enjoy the game *now* - great! If I do not enjoy the game, then I move onto something else.

I've unintentionally 'quit' over both summers that I've owned gw. It's just too much free time, gw gets boring if I play it that much. But, I've also come back twice, although now I'm fixing to quit again. No special reason, it's just getting old is all.

If you truly feel bored then I think it's time to turn to titles.

There are thousands of games in this world. If you enjoy it, you'll come back to it. Why quit what you enjoy? Even I'm sadistic, but at least I enjoy myself while doing it. Play GW! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!

Working on titles decreases boredom how exactly?

Is there something wrong with playing if you feel like it, and not playing when you don't?

Unless you're chronically addicted, then I don't see your problem.

They're a goal you work towards much like completing the game

You can't compare completing Prophecies to grinding a Sweet Tooth title. Prophecies is actually entertaining.

Clipping your toenails has a goal as well - not having long toenails. They are both as boring as each other.

Like all things each of us will measure our enjoyment diffently.

I find vanquishing one or two maps a week to be a good way of staying interested in the game.

If I get pissed off at a game, I take a short break (longer, depending on how angry I am) but if the experience overall is enjoyable or interesting, I always come back. For Guild Wars, it's different. I've been playing the game ever since Factions came out. So naturally, I'd get bored of it over time. Even with the releases of Nightfall and Eye of the North, even after getting Prophecies when I finished Factions, it all felt familiar.

So I sometimes take a break for a day or two, which helps me in not overloading on the game.

As for titles, I can only do so much. I either don't have the patience or incentive to do many of the titles available, so I stuck to maxing out just 10 on my main character. Now that I have "People Know Me", I think I'm going to take another break.

Perhaps when I return to Guild Wars, I'll be more refreshed and tackle more objectives head on.

I decided to reinstall Guild Wars today after about a month or so of having it uninstalled.

I proceeded to uninstall it again once I realized that people "/report"ed me when I had done nothing wrong.

I quit twice. Once because I just.. got tired of henching (I actually like working with other people) the second time was due to IRL circumstances and I needed to acclimate.

I came back, and have found myself to be having a rather good time. The secret to my success? I have a goal in mind, taking one character at a time through each different game and back again, after all it changes each time you have a new profession (how you deal with things etc)

Titles are kind of like there, and I sometimes get them, I sometimes don't, and I'm okay with that one. I'm working on one currently - but only when the holidays are out and it's Drunkard only because it takes up too much space in my storage and I don't really feel the need to sit around pilfering booze when I have other things to sell.

Games are what you make of it, and I choose to make mine fun =)

Welcome back btw to the OP

Title farming is like x10 more boring than playing the game as it is. I'd rather listen to people complain in AB than title farm. Clicking a few skills and killing for a few easy points for something that means nothing is a waste. Yes its worth it for EotN factions so you can get armor, but seriously, the boredom to get to them is overwhelming.

I know what you mean. Back when I was a lil noob my friends somehow talked me into playing RS. Fun at first(i guess, didn't even know what a fun mmorpg was then), it got really really old a few weeks into the summer. That summer, i picked up GW and played it until the next summer, during which I got tired of GW and tried a few other mmorpg's like lineage 2(even more grind then WoW). That failed, thus I came back to GW. GW is a very unique game, and can offer a lot of fun. I Guess thats why I keep coming back to it.

I've quit this game so many time I got a custom title: Lord Of Rage Quitters (1) and soon to get the second and highest tier within the next 6 months: Permanent Vacationer (2). Well not really but I've quit due to: many people I enjoyed playing with quitting, elite boredom (happens when you've done everything and own everything in existence), inactive guilds, life, technical difficulties.

Usually come back when I'm feeling nostalgic or when a few good buddies of mine and I decide to get back together and play for like a week or so then quit again. lol New content also brings me back. In fact, thanks to the addition of the Eternal Blade, this game has sucked me back into playing (soon as my new pc arrives). Maybe some luck will be on my side and I'll get one. Or spend whatever gold is left in storage and buy one. Then wait till the Wintersday event arrives. Then its time for Crysis. Breaks are good imo.

As with any game, after I've played the crap out of it, I get tired of it and do something else. Guild Wars is no exception. I've had many periods of GW "retirement", but I usually come back... I never try to force myself to stop playing. If I stop playing GW completely some day, it will simply be because I either found something I enjoy more or I am just plain tired of the game.

You can't quit Guild Wars, because it is always available for free; the game is just impossible to quit.

You can play it less, play other games, but if you played many hours a game, it's because you like it, and if you like it, you are always up-to-date and looking the updates page time to time (even if you don't play it)

For example, I don't play anymore Oblivion nor Titan Quest, but if an official expansion pack is released, or a big mod, or whatever, I will know it and I will return to game. So, no quit for favorite games, it's just impossible.

Oh! and if I am not on-topic enough, I played GW just 9 hours in the last 7 days. Normally I play 20 to 30 hours a week. The difference this week has a name: Hellgate: London; Someday will be another game, maybe Call of Duty 4, and so on. // I did some gladiator points today even when Hellgate is not finished yet. So .... quit??? never, my friend, never.

I "quit" for like two months.
A few weeks ago I started "playing" again.
Although the definition of "playing" changed. I used to play multiple hours per day. Then after I "quit" I realised how much stuff I was giving up by spending so much time playing. So now that I am back - I've limited the time I play to 10 hours per week - and now I don't even manage to play that much. I mostly log in - see that none of the people that I used to play with are on and I log out. Maybe do a quest, but I just can't manage to play more then a hour these days.
Jogging or reading books is FTW these days.

Yeah the moment i walk into Lions Arch i am litterally blown away by the number of people /reporting me. Its like they wait for me to spawn and then bam /report x 10. I'm actually thinking of uninstalling the game so i can use it as a reason in a thread like this.

.......Anyway theres not some rule that says you must quit the game. Just take a break from it and come on every once in a while when you feel like it.
