try using the search command ---you are using windows I assume. its in the 'start' menu....go to search and type in the file you are looking for and it should tell you where you put it.

If something has deleted it, which seems likely from what you've said, you'll have to do a reinstall.

how do I reinstall?

do you still have the disks??? any one of them will do....

Run the client available from here: http://guildwars.com/support/downloadclient/
One thing you could do though is backup the gw.dat file that is in the Program Files/Guild Wars directory (default) that way you can copy it back again so you don't have to update all the game files.
Also you could check your Recycle Bin in Windows incase it has been deleted it could be in there.

If you have the extra time during your reinstall, don't forget using gw.exe -image will help load times upon mapping, etc.
There are tools that recover files even after deletion, however, given the size of GW, you are probably better off just redownloading instead of risking a corrupt game.

did you try a search like I suggested, it might have been put into a different location....
if that doesnt work reinstall it again and watch where it gets put or better yet tell it to put it on say your desktop so you can find it (you can move it later).
(you could look on the control panel, add/remove programs and see if its actually installed on the computer, if so then do a search....)

Err, make sure you go into Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View, and make sure "Hide extensions for known filetypes" is unchecked. Miraculously, "gw" should become "gw.exe."
Alternatively, right-click on whatever shortcut icon you're using to play the game, and click Properties.. in the "Target" field is the folder location of the exe file the shortcut points to. It should be C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe
