Can this be done in the HoM?

If you die in the HoM where do you respawn?

I already have a Rainbow Phoenix, however it evolved playful. When I go into the HoM without Charm Animal on my bar a new, level 5, one is there.

I read on "The Wiki" that you can death level pets to be dire in about 2 hours. There is no information on dying in the HoM and whether the "dire" bug has been fixed on the Rainbow Phoenix.

when you die in the HoM, you go back to EOTN town.

The Dire bug has been fixed, I did manage to raise a Dire Rainbow Phoenix, however I went through the traditional method of leveling it up on lower level monsters. You'll have to consult the wiki to figure out a good way to raise it 'safely' to Dire though, I think this is basically the only pet that requires real effort to make into a Dire

I see your profession is N/x.

In this case, your pet is almost merely cosmetic. OK, maybe you want a 420 hp pet for faster corpses, but a hearty pet could also be handy. You will not be using your pet 99% of the time anyways.

Suggestion: Get it, and do some 4-5 man HM runs in Sahlaja, if you did not get max Lightbringer yet, even better. Then you have a hearty level 20 Phoenix with little effort.

Death-levelling in the hall unfortunately does not work, you get indeed zoned out to the EOTN, and there is nobody to rez you. The shrewd Ritualist trick *might* work - but it would take very long.

Ever thought of the possibility, you know, that the OP also has a ranger?

Unsure. You might get booted back to town immediately upon death.

Nope, when you die in HoM you get a button "Return to Outpost".

I am speaking of my Ranger. The N/x (Istol Lerf) was just the first toon I created. I can't fit 10 character names in that space so I figured it would be fitting to use my first.

I saw the post on wiki regarding leveling. I don't use a pet that often, but I thought I would attempt to make a dire one.

Last questions, What happens to a pet if you take it with you as the doorman for FFF. How will it evolve? Will it gain XP with you or only for killing monsters?

Pets do not benefit from quest or mission rewards. Only combat xp.

Your pet has to do more damage than it takes to level to aggressive/dire. Period. EDITED (Thank you October Jade for graciously pointing out my misstatement to me. Much appreciated).

Please read more carefully before posting. Being the FFF doorman will not make a hearty pet; it will get you nowhere.

Im just curious since my ranger is trying to get a dire Rainbow Phoenix, could you go to the isle of the nameless and have your pet attack suits of armor for the damage part and then go wurms and level him that way?

The suits of armor on the Isle of the Nameless don't give experience.

The worms outside boreal station in normal (or hard) mode would seem to be pretty ideal. They hardly even defend themselves, and you can take one at a time (meaning you can devote all your attention to the pet).

Actually, I'm going to capture a raven and do exactly that.

Pretty sure its just based off of damage done, for that part of it anyway. Thats what multiple posts have said anyway~

well actually I took my phoenix from 14 to 20 dire on HM wurms as monk. I brought ZB and tanked for my pet.

It was 1 level per 1.5 zones pretty much! There's no reason you shouldn't be able to tank the damage. You'll probably get some greens and plat too. Easiest level 30s ever.

Once I got my phoenix to evolve to aggressive off the skale in Fahranur, I just took him with me in my LB runs in the sulfurous wastes. He got a level almost every run and evolved into dire.
