I imagine it would be like this in towns.
Primary objective:
-To create diversity, uniqeness and to allow people to further customize their characters by displaying weapons on their backs while not-fighting and/or being in towns
Problems and solutions:
-Because of the GW engine, all these extra objects in towns would be rendered entirely by the machine, and not by the server, thus lag(latency) should not be a problem.
-Instead of lag, the more realistic problem would probably the extra workload of the CPU and Ram, because of having to further process a larger number of objects. However, as computers get faster it seems reasonable to do this, over 2 years post the games launch. Furthermore, an toggle for this hole feature would be most desireable.
-Most people in GW looks very similiar at this point, thus its hard to appreciate ones character(s) to their full extent. Armors for each Profession looks closely similiar to one another, but with the larger array of weapons and possibilities of rare weapon skins becoming a more desireable factor, weapons-on-back could greatly improve the user experience
Thus(heheh.. i just learned that wordXD) is it not reasonable to suggest that carrying weapons on your back while in town is a worthy addition to the user experience?
If GWEN was the last thing we ever get in terms of more customization in terms of armor, character appereance etc... Then I think Anet should use everything they currently got.
I know tons of people in the game who havent seen 1/5 of all the weapons in the game, because all of their groups use a few popular weapon.
seeing someone carrying a strange, rare or/and obscure weapon in town might make someone interested in trying to get the more silly/cool/wacky/freaky/ugly/weird weapons for whatever reason to go with their character. It might also enhance peoples motivation for seeking all these non-popular weapons with max stats.
Because was that not the point of GW? No uber stats - just rare skins and fancy bragging.
Some people say: "OMG hax u nub. u wanna brag about ur sword, then just trade window with some nub and show it!!!111111"
honestly I dont understand this, because people in GW dont just walk up to a player they dont know, open trade window and show a weapon and then run away like a first-timer prick of ascalon! That would be like chopping off your ding dong in real life, and mailing it to your best friends hot mom! people just dont do that. NO!
the fact of the matter is, that its the things that enhance a game. visual fidelity and variations is important in all forms of life. also in games.
so make it happen, Anet. I know you can do it. I trust in you. We had it in WoW, Zelda, Oblivion, Counter-Strike Source. That alone is not a reason to add it, but it gives an idea of why people ARE adding it to their games. Because it rocks.
because peoples pockets should not be magical endless like some idiot fantasy. NO! These strong guys actually to run around. they actually have to use physical items to inflect death, and yet their weapons... their tools of the trade in this game of killing, war and brutality where weapons are the only instrument used, is being hidden away, like its some obscure vibrator your mother don't want you to see(my mum at least:'( ).
I dont know how to make this post. At first I wanted to threaten with suicide if I didnt got my wish, but even I know thats going to far(wut cut off my left hand at most. already mastered playing GW only with mouse)!
So in the cheesy dialouge saying of Storm from the crappy X-Men 3 movie: "If your with us, THEN BE WITH US!!!!!!!!"
