Forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong forum, I was unsure between Riverside Inn and Farming, but as my question addresses farming, I suppose this is where it shall be posted.
I've been away from the game for over a year now, in fact I left pretty much when the AoE nerf (spiteful spirit, etc.) happened, which happens to be like 2 days before Nightfall release. I stopped following the GW updates ever since, and me and my friend are considering coming back.
So my question is: would anyone be kind enough to break down what's changed most in farming since Nightfall release? Do monsters still flee from spiteful spirit and similar spells? What's popular to farm nowadays? What is hard mode? Anything else I should know?
Thanks a lot

While some disagree, I believe the AoE scatter code is in Hard Mode only now. While I have seen enemies scatter in Normal Mode from AoE, it's a lot less so then it was when they first put it in.
Also, Hardmode basically means all enemies are lvl 24 or above, and have a greater chance to drop golds, lockpicks, and other valuable loot.
But with a pretty big downside: Loot Scaling. Loot Scaling is basically this: all loot dropped by monsters is based upon the # of party numbers that area is supposed to have. So, lets say for instance, that you go out farming in the Southern Shiverpeaks. Max party is 8 right? But you go solo, right? You will get 1/8th of the drops. It made it so that the game encourages players to party with each other in full groups in Hard Mode. (Which is rubbish, we all agree.)
There are still a lot of builds that do solo Hard Mode, and makeout pretty well. 55'ing is still alive, and kicking. A lot of the Earth Ele builds are still making quite a bit of money. Read the Farming forum a bit more; builds posted all over the place.

Oh thanks but I'm not looking for builds, I can check wiki for that. Just other info as AI changes and such.
Do people solo in Hard mode or normal mode?
