Pet Evolutions??
Killah K
Is there any way you can manipulate pet evolutions? I really want my pet to be either dire or elder….
Stormlord Alex
If you want Dire, death-level it.
Take a Hero with Resurrect, strip naked, aggro it... and let it kill you, over and over.
Come back in a few hours and you'll have a level 20 Dire pet ready to charm.

The numbers are outdated, but this thread is absolutely still well worth the read for the general info as well. *shameless plug*

If you have time there are quite a few good threads here within the ranger forums on exactly how and where to get your pet evolved a certain way as well.

Here's the build I use for making pets become Dire. It takes about the same amount of time as death-leveling, but it's more fun and nets you a little gold too.
[skill]Enraged Lunge[/skill][skill]Call of Haste[/skill][skill]Otyugh's Cry[/skill][skill]Predatory Bond[/skill][skill]Symbiotic Bond[/skill][skill]Call of Protection[/skill][skill]Charm Animal[/skill][skill]Comfort Animal[/skill]
Beast Mastery 12+1+3
Expertise 12+3
Recommended locations (probably mentioned in other articles too)
Scoundrel's Rise (just the Wavebreakers; avoid the Skale)
Anvil Rock HM
Snow Wurms outside Boreal Station
If anything, this bar works too well. Using it for only the first half (level 5 to 11) is enough to produce a Dire pet, even if it deals absolutely no damage from 11 to 15. You could Junundu farm or whatever for the second evolution; it doesn't matter.
[btw, I'd love to hear a way to reliably produce an Elder. I'm getting tired of retraining animals up to level 15 only to be disappointed.]

Its common knowledge already I think, but I stole my Elder White Tiger from Salke Fur Friend, the Heal As One boss. It's a little tricky, but I was able to do it after a few tries. I'd say its fairly reliable.

Indeed, I used that very trick a long while ago. Quick and easy, and the white tiger is one of the best aesthetic choices imo.
The problem now is that I'd like to try some other animals for a bit. The flip-flop method, suggested both in the Epinephrine/Jenosavel treatise and on the wiki, has failed me repeatedly.

I always get to aggressive first at either 11th or 12th level using a good 'trainer' build then just switch to a damage build for yourself and no beast mastery (bring pet rez). Its never failed me for Elder as long as the pet turns aggressive as it should.

death leveling lvl 2 jahai rat to dire ftw!
Witchblade
death leveling is very fast
(i even managed to get a dire pet for my survivor ranger took me a lil more than one hour. I had to increase the death count of a friend's character instead, though ^^ )
