legendary swords in GW
Dark Paladin X
I have an idea on GW, why not have several legendary swords in Guild Wars. Like Hrunting and Excalibur, these swords would be extremely rare and may have it's own unique skin. Note that all swords I mention will have it's standard max 15-22 slashing damage and requires 9 swordsmanship unless stated otherwise.
All legendary swords you need to know can be found here
Hrunting:
Double adrenaline on hit (10% chance)
+30 health
Damage +15%, Energy -5
will have appearance of "rusted" Brute Sword
The Hrunting is very useful on adrenaline based builds for Warriors or Paragons, particularly the Dragon Slash Spammer.
Heaven's Will:
Fire Damage
+20% damage vs. undead
Damage +15% while enchanted
Heaven's Will will have it's own unique skin
This sword is the only green sword that does extra damage against certain species, and it is useful against fighting hordes of undead.
Excalibur:
Zealous (energy on hit:1 energy regen: -1)
req. 12 swordsmanship
Energy +5
Enchantments last 20% longer
The skin will be almost similar to the Runic Blade, only to have the blade more "glittery."
Masamune:
Lengthens Bleeding
+30 Health
Damage +15% while in stance
The sword will use the skin of a Katana, but the blade would be shiny teal color
Caladbolg:
Armor Penetration 20% (c:20%)
+30 health
Damage +20% while Health below 50%
The skin of the sword is the Singing Blade dyed Green
Tyrfing:
Dark Damage
Damage +15% vs. hexed foes
Swordsmanship +1 (20% chance while using skills)
Only sword that does dark damage, has appearance of Lesser Dark Scimitar dyed black.
Sword of Damocles:
Shocking
Damage +15% while health above 50%
Enchantment lasts 20% longer
Appearance of the Greater Highlander Blade dyed white
Galatine:
Lengthens Crippled duration on foes by 33%
Armor +7 vs. physical damage
+15% damage while +50% health
Appearance of Norn Sword
Durendal:
Lengthens Crippled duration on foes by 33%
+30 health
damage +15% armor -10 while attacking
Appearance of Shining Gladius
Kusanagi:
Vampiric (health regen -1 life steal: 3
Damage +20% while hexed
Enchantments last 20% longer
Appearance of Dadao Sword while the blade colored red
Zulfikar:
Vampiric
Energy +5
Health +30
Uses the Vabbian Scimitar skin with the blade orange
And that's all the swords I suggest for GW and possibly GW2

too many useless sword skins in gw already compared to the other classes' weapons in the game,
anet has been hit and miss on that in my opinion- but they have covered that list you half-arsed wikipedia'd
come up with some "legendary" scythe, dagger, hammer, axe, and staff skins, then we'll talk

Sounds more like a Final Fantasy thing, having in-game items named after famous weapons or monsters.

Hmmm, sounds fun. What would be cool if they have weapons after the gods.

The problem is that, for the most part, GW has its own mythology - there is no King Arthur, no Beowolf, etc. The legendary swords *are* in GW, it's just they are legendary w/in GW's own mythology. The Green items you get from certain enemies, or as quest/campaign rewards are those items.
Now, a feature that would be kinda neat would be to be able to name a sword when you customize it (might be too big an issue if people abuse it).

no, no weapon naming. "sword of uber 1337 pwn4g3" and co is what we would get.
weapon naming after the character i can support (like in diablo2 extension)

We already have weapon names after characters, like hmm... scar eater and spiriteater?
Anyways, I like the idea, reminds me of Morrowind and Oblivion, which was one of my favorite things to do... get legendary weapons that is

couldn't the green items be considered as legendary weapons though they've been farmed to hell?

Ok first of, the swords doesn't always have to be dropped by some boss after a legendary figure, it could possibly be dropped by a boss that isn't related to the sword or normal foes in a specific area (like totem axe).
And I pretty sure these swords would fit well in the GW environment.
