"Favored Areas"
DarkNecrid
This is an idea I just had!
Whats a favored area you ask?
They randomly pick 1 Tyria, 1 Cantha, 1 Elona, and 1 Northern Tyria area, and while in that area for an entire week you get the following bonus's while doing that area:
+50%XP from kills (+100% in Hard Mode)
x2 the amount of drops!
On the weekends, it will just be PvP events, like double balth in RA, etc.
Basically, this makes the majority of PvE players happy cause it gives them something to do / farm / revisit old areas, while giving PvPers a weekend dedicated to our own events.

As long as its not the same place twice it sounds good.

It sounds a lot like the "hotspot" system in SB (if anybody has ever played it). It was basically the same thing: more exp and loot from monsters for 4 hours. Sounds like a cool idea.

A bonus area for a limited period of time would be nice!

Where you thinking of these "Hot Spots" being announced or just letting players find out for themselves.
Maybe have the background characters in towns talking about such things
It was the thought of small towns suddenly being flooded by vast numbers of players that made me think about it.

Interesting. It's kind of like the weekend bonuses but a player chooses for himself.

A reason to enjoy all those backwater areas where no important quests happen. *stares intently at Dry Top, Ice Dome, Twin Serpent Lakes, and Stingray Strand*

Sides how many 2X XP for elite caps weekends have we had so far?
Add those in there too.
But might want to make it a little dynamic, I mean what if the area is ...Cho's estate(Explorable) on shing yea island?
Nobody goes there for longer than 10 minutes, because theres pretty much naught to do there. Even if you are the right level to go there.
How about adding some interesting boss, scaled on the party's size/level, like the dynamic skill set of the doppleganger is.
To attract people like Rotscale did.
Or hide what area is this week's FA and connect some title to it, you get the level off stuff killed in the favored area as points for that title.
Making players want to find the area and visit all areas every week in order to find it.
"Hunter of Beasts"
"Hunter of Trophies"
"Hunter of Legends"
"The Great Zehtuka" (<< just kidding lol )

Thanks guys!
Also, I think it would be better if they announced it...there's too many areas in the game for it to not be.

This is a great idea, and you can tie it to the lore by, e.g., having the Lyssan Fools trying to give a performance in the aforementioned area which would naturally be the reason why players are being rewarded for cutting the irritable wildlife down in numbers. Actually having the NPCs out in the wild reciting (bad) verse to a flock of avicaras would be outright hilarious.
This would sync well with various titles like cartography and vanquishing, facilitate grouping because there would be more people at the same place at the same moment, and highlight some of the less known wonderful vistas out there. And because of the temporary nature, bots wouldn't get any benefits out of it.

And we can watch the bots move from town to town as the "favoured place" changes from week to week!
It's actually not a bad idea though.

Not bad idea, but as they would be picking the areas, they could really pick areas which are unfarmable and otherwise nearly dead. But yea a week might be a too long time or not, dunno.

A lot easier to catch when you know where they will be.
Estic
If it also covers double rep points in that zone:
/signed
It acutally covers all the usual PvE weekends, double xp for skill capture (you get more xp in that specific zone), double rep points, could even have FoW/UW being favored and remove the 1k fee .

This might get some attention from newer players, but experienced farmers will probably get better drops where they are and faster than in a new area. Therefore, I think if this is implemented, it'll be just another "meh, who cares?" kind of update after a few months.
MithranArkanere
More people will gather to vanquish that particular area, and for that week will be easier to get party members for making quests and vanquishing there.
And that is good.
The favored area could also have cheaper blessings in statues, and a slightly better drop rate. Since bots alwas stick to the same areas, and many areas are not-bot farmeable (specially those with enchantment removers and interrupters) it could really work.
