Hey

The following are the most common questions that come up in my head, and are focused towards the Hero's Handbook:
Is it worthwhile to hand in a complete Hero's Handbook as opposed to handing in one that is not fully complete? When is it a good time to hand in a handbook? (This question is aimed more towards the points that go towards your titles; Ebon Vangaurd title, Asuran title, etc, compared with the money and experience rewards). Let's say that I did a few quests in normal mode and another few in hard mode, would the quests done in normal override the quests done in hard mode? Or is there no overwrite for whatever mode you do the quests in? Can I obtain as many handbooks as I wish, regardless of whether I have incomplete handbooks?
  • If I am after the Ebon Vangaurd max title, is the method of handing in the handbooks the most efficient way of collecting points? Does it matter which NPC I hand in a handbook to? Furthermore, will the points I get be determined by which outpost I go to, to get to the NPC so I can give the handbook in? One last question that is a slightly off-topic, but still has relevance, how do you re-do the quests even though you have completed the quest? I know of friends that re-do quests that go towards the completion of the Hero's Handbook, yet I don't understand how they can do them again. Is it the case of going back to the NPC that gives the quest?

I'm sorry if some or all of these questions may seem obvious to some. I must admit that I am still a novice to this expansion, yet willing to learn all that I can about it. In this case, these handbooks.

    Thank you in advance.

    1. Look at reward obtained for incomplete book and decide
    2. There are two books, normal and hard mode
    3. Yes
    4. Probably. It'll depend on your playstyle. If you can complete missions in hard mode fast enough, it's probably better than clearing zones. After rank 8, you can only advance in hard mode, regardless of which way you choose.
    5. Yes, each NPC converts book into their own's reputation, so where you turn it in depends which reputation will get increased.

You cannot re-do quests unless they're repeatable.
To re-do missions, go into HoM, talk to scrying pool.
To re-do dungeons, talk to the relevant NPC for that dungeon.

If you don't mind grinding, what I would recommend is to work your way to Rank 7, get it close to 8 as you can without going over. Then turn in a completed NM dungeon book, and that'll catapult you to Rank 9 AND give you 8k

From there you can either grind the remaining 50+k rep points or just go ahead and turn in a HM book. Here's the thread that's been floating around on how to use a incomplete HM Heroe's Handbook to quickly get reputation: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10215952

Can anyone tell me whereabouts I can get a hard mode Hero's Handbook? I only have the normal mode handbook, I think.

You can get 'em from the same place as you would the normal mode books.

Antheus got most of the important stuff, but here's a few things I think he missed:

On your first playthrough for each character, keep a handbook on you at all times, and the reward for the full book is worth the 1 inventory slot. However, for "farming" the books, unless you can do Destruction's Depths (among other missions) quickly and painlessly, it is most likely not worth it to redo all the missions.

And for getting the HM books, you need to have HM unlocked on your account. Then you get it in the same way as a NM book, but it's a different button on the conversation window.

How many times can you get the NPC's to fill in the books for you?

How many times can you repeat quests before getting really really bored?

You can fill out as many books as you like, as often as you want-no limit (until you reach rank10 in all the rep titles that is).

having taken 5 of my toons through the entire game, here's how I do things.

    1. Do all quests (obviously), fill that book entirely up
    2. Save up consumables that are rewards, use those for Shards of Orr. I do that h&h so don't really care to spend much time re-runing, skilling, and equipping all my heroes. Let the consumables -> god mode.
    3. Don't do Slavers. Just me -- on the time vs reward ratio, it's a huge downside.
    4. After completing the game, turn both tomes in for Vanguard, as that's the least rep farmable area.

For my title character, I had HM books going too, and did Slaver's. I cashed my nm books in for Vanguard, just under r8. HM after that.
