Doesn't control the game for you, but could it be interpreted as a bot?

That might be pushing it as far as legality goes. Better safe than sorry, I'd say don't use it.

To me that seems like it is too close to user agreement violation... So I would steer clear of that... Just in case....

Just like sykoone said better save than sorry...

Not much different than a mouse with multiple buttons though is it?

The biggest problem I see with it is "Tie complex moves to a single button, or map them to any combination of controls." That's too much like simple macro botting for my tastes.

My initial reaction is to say that it won't be grounds for a ban. But the program doesn't seem at all useful in the game anyway.

The program does not modify the existing game and all it's doing is creating keystroke macros. This is no more than what some gaming peripherals already give you the ability to do. Keyboard, mice, and joysticks frequently come with rudimentary programs to macro button sequences.

On top of that, in Guild Wars there aren't specific keystroke combinations that can give you a real edge by hitting them faster since this isn't a twitch game. Sure spell chaining gets simplified somewhat, but in Guild Wars you don't get spells off faster by hitting keys in sequence faster. If anything that can mess up your spells.

Of course the program may do other tricks that may be very gray area and could potentially lead to an exploit. Or there might be some keystroke sequence that isn't coming to mind that can give you an unfair advantage.

This is really why a.net generally says don't use anything. They don't have the Time and resources to check every single little program that comes across their desk to make sure it's not an exploit or causes conflicts within the game that might potentially lead to a spike in complaints blaming the game and not the third party program at the root of the problem. They don't have Time to make exceptions as it can lead to a slippery slope of what's acceptable and what isn't. Easier to just say "no" and be done with it.

As with anything, you choose to run a risk if you use a third party program. Is the risk high? I doubt it. As long as it's not a bot or cheat then you're probably not even on their radar. But it's still technically against their fair use policy which means there's always a chance greater than zero of being "busted," even if it's miniscule.

Well many game controlers and specialised game keypads Like the zboards "Fang" and the thrustmaster "tac board" I use have the capability for key macros.

I don't have any set up on mine but its got the capability Never found a use for the multiple keys to one stroke although I guess I could chain spells or attack skills with it.

They are great for letting me have the same key configuration for similar game types.

You could try contacting support and hoping they respond with something beyond 'busy working on GW2, go away'.

Only thing that comes to mind specifically is the skill you need to spam in Kilroy's Punchout quests in order to get up.

I have been using similar freeware software to play Guild Wars on a PlayStation 2 pad since May '05. All it really does is change your input device from mouse/keyboard to gamepad/joystick etc. Both the software you linked and the software I use allow for macros, or multiple key presses to a single button. Neither that software nor the program I use appear to allow for automatic input, however. At least mine does not.

I'll just refer you to necrhonius's post in regards to whether it can result in a ban. Technically, it does violate the EULA, but the risk is mine to take, and I have. Personally, I think the risk is miniscule, but don't blame me if for some reason I am proven wrong. For one thing, there's not really any way for ANet to detect it that I am aware of, and it does not afford any advantage.

If anyone is interested in a free alternative to the OP's link, I'll post it. I can confirm it's spyware/virus/trojan etc. free, and it does work on GW.

edit: There's actually a thread in Community Works for GW with an XBOX360 pad here:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10210954
Obviously, I prefer my configuration to the one in that thread. More controls, for one.

Not sure if it's bannable. My logitech MX-1000 mouse came with a software that can associate its numerous buttons to various functions (but nothing really helpful for gaming), and it may be the same with their wireless keyboard (may be?). And the kind of software you mention is akin to this software, furthermore it's a general software and not one targetting GW.

One advantage you gain is the faster it hits "C" and "Space" the faster my Warrior will attack

The only use I'd ever saw for this is :
" numpad 1 = skill # 8 ( infuse ) on target ally 1

If it makes the game easier in any aspect, then its cheating. Just my two cents.

So, you play with pre-searing armor, with starter weapon and not using a mouse? All those make game easier, but are not needed to play it.

No, it's not bannable, it's perfectly legal.

Using the programming feature to perform a farming run (C, space, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, ...) however can get you banned. Same for automation of other processes, such as spam.

Exactly. It's pretty much just a macro.

It's considered a macro. Don't use it.
