New Assassin
Chalupa
I'm just starting out a new assassin. I was going to use a elite tome to get a elite to use for questing. What elite do you think I should get and why?
Jaigoda
Moebius Strike, hands down. By far the best PvE 'Sin elite (one of the best at all, in my opinion). You can chain it and Death Blossom for some massive AoE splash damage. For PvE, it's the most powerful build you can come by on a 'Sin. Even works good for farming. Just run Critical Defenses and Critical Agility and you're quite a nice tank.
Bobby2
another vote for moebius.
Sqube
Since we're talking PvE, we're talking Moebius. Seriously. You can scrounge up another elite for a specialized build, but Moebius is the type of elite that you could put on your bar and literally never remove it throughout all 4 campaigns.

In the case that you like deadly arts more (though i doubt it) may i also suggest assassin's promise....
for 5-13 seconds if target foe dies, you gain 5-17 energy and all skills recharge
but moebius is always good too ...and most definitely the better choice

It's Official, Moebius.

[skill]Moebius Strike[/skill]+[skill]Death Blossom[/skill] should be in every Assassin PvE build. As should [skill]Critical Defenses[/skill] and Critical Agility. You'll want some energy management ([skill]Critical Strike[/skill] is good) and something to chain into the MS+DB spam with, such as [skill]golden phoenix strike[/skill].
Basically, the message here is that Moebius+Blossom=Win.

I prefer [skill]golden fox strike[/skill][skill]wild strike[/skill] as intro: unblockable, and shorter recharge

I've been using that recently, it's pretty good. It also gets rid of any stances that could screw up your spam. I've been using GFS, WS, DB, MS, CS, Crit Defense, Crit Agility and Res Signet. No deep wound, but I could ditch Res for Impale, and take away 1 Dagger Mastery to put Deadly ARts at 6.
@BlackSephir: lol, Wastrel's Collapse. Is that skill actually useful for anything?
[skill]Wastrel's Collapse[/skill]->[skill]Shatter Delusions[/skill]->[skill]Falling Spider[/skill]?
EDIT: Just saw that Shatter only removes a Mesmer hex. Ok, I'm beat - can anyone think of any possible use at all for Wastrel's Collapse? The delayed KD just doesn't make sense to me, perhaps it could be timed into a Hex-based attack chain for a second KD?

Actually, I'd bet 10k and say they needed 1 more elite to have required 15 in NF and *puff*- that's how WC was born.

And BlackSephir, that does actually sound like a pretty good theory, I'll hold onto my 10k, thanks. :P

Neither does Wastrel's Worry, but its effect is conditional on its complete duration.
Utaku
Lemme try:
[skill]wastrel's collapse[/skill][skill]black mantis thrust[/skill][skill]jungle strike[/skill]http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Trampling_Ox
It's the only 0.25 hex available, but it really sucks.

Omniclasm
Well, even though it is not listed here....I would like to throw in a vote for [skill]Beguiling Haze[/skill], can totally shut down a caster, which will save your party from a lot of damage, or keep a monk from healing at all.
Mist Walker Skarloc
I do like [skill]Beguiling Haze[/skill], but for PvE, I'd say an interrupt Ranger or Mesmer is better for shutting down a caster.
Utaku, perhaps if well timed, Falling Spider could be used after Ox, in time for Wastrel's to KD immediately after to follow up with Falling Lotus Strike. I'm not sure what the point would be, but it could be fun to experiment with.

[skill]Vigorous Spirit[/skill]
[skill]Live Vicariously[/skill]
[skill]Mending[/skill]
[skill]Jagged Strike[/skill]
[skill]Wild Strike[/skill]
[skill]Death Blossom[/skill]
Now your Assassin can be just like a Paladin!
EDIT: How could I forget Mending?!

if you are using an elite tome, there is NO reason not to get Moebius. Flashing Blades is for help while you are learning how to be a sin, and should only be used because it's the first elite you get. After the five minutes it takes for you to learn how to kite, FB is pointless.
[email protected] Yeah, how dare you forget mending? Could throw in Healing Breeze, too?

For PvE, the absolute ultimate shutdown is... Just killing them. In PvE, hardly any monsters (save SF, Mist Form, Mark of Protection, etc. users) can actually survive an attack like people can in PvP. They don't kite, they don't have (good) monks, and they usually don't use their own healing skills correctly. There's no point in shutting down something if you can just outright kill it. And really, I'm not sure why I spent a paragraph explaining the quite obvious.
