I want to have a permanent pre-searing character. I don't have any of the expansions, so whichever the first GW is, thats what I have. I was working with Warrior builds, but saw how well Mesmers can be, due to their empathy and backfire spells. I don't want to waste time leveling any character before I am positive on which professions to go. Can anybody lead me in the right direction in telling me some really good Charr hunting solo combos please? Much appreciated.

Ranger is what i solo charr in pre with, i think it help to have a pet along to take some of the damage for you.
I haven't solo'd charr with any other proffession yet.

Ranger is a very flexilbe profession and the pet is a big help when soloing, as mentioned above.

As Neo Nugget and Olim III have both suggested the ranger w/ pet build is pretty straightfoward and a good pre-searing class to solo with...

But I also would recommend thw W/Mo tank build is also a very good pre-searing class since there is no dis-enchanters in pre-searing ( as far as I can remember)...

I went with Mesmer and it works great - backfire, empathy, Phantasm, shatter delusions quickly kills the shamans.

Take the ranger quest from nente, the one where you get a pet and troll ungent but don't accept the reward - that will give you a pet and troll ungent for healing.

But then again a Ele wouldnt be bad either since they have the lesser energy glyph... They can nuke nicely at a low cost in Pre-Searing...

Charr Chaots shatter enchantments.

How about a Me/R? Make use of a pet and Mesmer skills. That's actually exactly what I originally started my Mesmer off as in pre-searing. I stayed there for quite a while too, Me/R can work very well.

I made my perma pre an ele ranger. The ranger isn't perma tho as I haven't accepted it as such. I want to be able to use the others for the exp.

Yeap and use fast casted dual shot and power shot like I did when I first made my first female char who now is my Monk.My first Mesmer was the name of my Monk to me Mes/R didn't go well.

To the Op go with something you haven't played yet and or try a different secondary.

If you want a charr hunting character, then R/E or W/R are the only good ways to go. Or possibly R/Me for Backfire (but you won't have Empathy)

It's a hell of a lot harder to solo with a mesmer, although they are good if you are hunting with a friend. Regardless, Ranger secondary is invaluable because Troll Unguent is the only good healing skill over the wall, except for maybe Ether Feast. Anything else is either shatter bait, or not of much use against charr mobs.

The main reason you don't want to solo with a Mesmer is that you don't have a good way to take out the Blade Storms. And no, Empathy is not an answer, because they will still be doing more damage to you than to themselves.

I just took my almost perma-pre ele out .
she was e/r for most of it just because of the pet and troll unguent. (she is e/w now).
When I started I had a me/r its a great setup as well, but mesmers are more difficult to play if you decide to continue on----but thats another story.

You can make 4 characters so why not try a few out and see if you like them, you can always delete them and reroll!
Necros are also fun because of the minions! (a necro/ranger would be nice because of the pet and minions to help you fight).

My choice would be Mesmer with Glyph of lesser energy from the first elementalist quest.
Mesmers' skills in PreSearing are very good, if you're good at timing them.
[skill]empathy[/skill][skill]backfire[/skill][skill]conjure phantasm[/skill][skill]shatter delusions[/skill][skill]glyph of lesser energy[/skill]
learn to time shatter and to cast backfire at the right time for each type of ennemy, and you'll kickass!

Warriors are overpowered in pre too, as they have early acces to conditions:
[skill]sever artery[/skill][skill]gash[/skill][skill]frenzy[/skill][skill]healing signet[/skill]
Ain't that sexy?

Sweet... So my Me/E is 7 now, and I tried Northlands, but I don't know your skill placements, so that would be really helpful in terms of attribute points.

Thanks

Sorry, can't remember what I had at those levels. Probably Domination heavy with some points in Inspiration and Illusion.
