What weapons to put on the HoM weapons monument?

The Monument of Valor in the Hall of Monuments has 11 weapon slots where you can add destroyer weapons.

This correlates roughly with the types of weapons available ingame:

1. Swords
2. Axes
3. Hammers
4. Bows (Flat,Long,Recurve,Horn,Short)
5. Spears
6. Scythes
7. Daggers
8. Shields
9. Wands
10. Foci
11. Staves

OK, so I got a destroyer curses scepter, a curses focus and a soul reaping staff for my necro.

But what now? I have no idea what benefits I will get for the destroyer weapons or a full monument in GW2.

I could get wands and staves for the other attributes as well, or caster weapons or give them to my heroes.

But we do not even know if the primary/secondary attributes of our GW1 classes will stay in GW2, or if they will be reworked, if whole classes get removed or merged or whatever.

I am not sure if ANet already knows what to do with many parts of the HoM in GW2.

The question can be extended: How about the Monument of Resilience (Armor)? Will there be any difference between five more common 15k armor sets or a monument having both Obsidian and Vabbi armors displayed?

At the moment I am playing almost solely to complete title tracks and to fill up the HoM. But I really need some more input towards WHAT I am actually working for in GW2.

Unknown, that what ur working gfor gw2, i doubt even the dev know what they will or will not unlock.
When the destoyer weapons are put in the monument they are based on skin, not attribute. Also the does matter what type of bow either.
Same goes for armor, remember the original design for the shrine, you only unlocked the armor location. Good example of this is put grotto or granite armor, does not call it by class specific name.
So what will it unlock in gw2, just something "people will notice when u first start playing". They said it was will not be tranfer weapon, mini, armor, or gold. So what they do is unknown.

lol Just wait until GW2 comes out, GW should still be up.. maybe.
Then ask someone who put a destroyer weapon into HoM about the benefits.

I guess they will follow "safe" approach of original preorder items ... stuff that will give you nearly max, but gimmicky items, making begining somewhat easier but irrelevant in long run.

Id guess that rather than being tied to class of original character they would be generated as usefull for its descendand. otherwise they would have to add all classes that were in gw1. Amount of weapons in racks could have effect on power of generated item.

Its all just wild guesses.

GW2 will not be balanced, and it will be completely grind based.

Hence, the rewards from HoM could very well be "epic", and serve as a way to keep people playing GW.

I think it's pretty safe to say it wont really matter what the hell you do with your HoM.

Could be, but grind based game means power creep, which will eventually leaves those epic weapon behind.

Also, grind based game means, well, that grind has some point. If you get The best weapon right of bat at character creation, it means that lots grind will be pointless and that owners of this stuff can sell pretty much everything for profit amassing much more gold than other players.

It's called a gold sink. That's the only reason they want you to add all those weapons.

Besides them saying there will be a few benefits, you're correct.

This is entirely possible, but you don't really know. And nobody will really know what the game will be like until AFTER release.

Imo grind based leveling isn't so bad if the quests are fun and interesting, it's when it just turns into killing the same monster over and over that it's truly a grind. So as long as the quests are fun/unique like they are now I'm sure I'll be happy with the game. I just hope that casuals aren't put at a disadvantage, because they're the majority of the population in the game world most of the time. And I REALLY hope that even with the increase in level cap that the armor/weapons and such are still scaled so that all max armor has the same stats and it's only difference is appearance. We don't need people calling other people "scrubs" because their "gear" isn't as good as someone else.

no

there has already been official word from the top down on that.

*whatever is unlocked will not give an advantage over a brand new player. you will also not be able to transfer in any form GW1 wealth into GW2*

meaning you cant sell that unique uber zoo you put into that characters HOM for a early fortune as i am betting they will be customized to the GW2 account

It is pretty irrelevant what I think and what you think. I am looking for some facts, and I think Shadowmoon is quite right:

Almost nothing is known what benefits the various HoM monuments will bestow upon GW1 players in GW2.

This bugs me a lot. I am playing towards GW2 at the moment, I have not much else to do in GW1 anymore, having played it since release.

I'm pretty sure the folks at Anet don't even know. My personal take since there are individual hall of monuments for each character, whatever you add to each of the hall of monuments an item will be unlocked for a specific character you create in GW2. Just an absurd guess on my part.

Jeff Strain has stated that once GW2 is active, there will be a point where you won't be able to go back and add to your HoM.

http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/10908

"Jeff: I don't know exactly what the timing will be, but I will tell you that we aren't going to allow new players to Guild Wars 2 to go back and get those items in the Hall of Monuments. Our intent is to reward players who are playing Guild Wars right now. We have so many people who have stepped up to make Guild Wars successful and have invested so much time into their characters. The whole point of this [the Hall of Monuments] is to reward those gamers. We want to say, "Thanks for playing those one, two, or three years in our original game. We appreciate you guys getting into the game early, and we want to reward you for that."

So I can't imagine that we'll let somebody coming into Guild Wars six months after Guild Wars 2 ships and letting them have rights to all of the same opportunities our original players had. Our expectation is that a lot of people are going to be getting a lot of stuff in the original Guild Wars in the several months leading up to Guild Wars 2. "

Pretty much my assessment, based on the fact that bonuses from HoM wont give an advantage over players new to the GW franchise just starting out with GW2, ie, they'll be things similar to the Collector's Editions and pre-orders. Neat, but not necessarily worth all the time in and of themselves - just nice if you did happen to fill up those sections of the HoM. I hope that its more than just things like that, but I am not counting on it.

Just enjoy the titles or things you are working on for the sake of them and leave it at that. I hope its sooner than later that they announce what those rewards are, but we arent likely to know anything at all until some months before GW2's actual release.

Think of preorder items ... they offer no advantage in long run but they save their owners tidy amount of money when equipining heroes.
