I was thinking how worthless some dyes are compared to the rarer kinds and i was trying to think of a way to increase the value of those cheaper colours without increasing the rarity or altering the trader price upfront.
My idea is, make all dyes drop as an "Unidentified vial of dye".
These Unidentified vials could be sold to the trader for a price calculated from the average price of all the dyes and based upon the chance of having a particular dye, so you might end up getting a couple of hundred gold for an unidentified vial at the trader.
You could however identify your vial for 'free' at the trader but you would run the risk of it just turning out to be a yellow, orange or brown as usual.
If you did choose to sell it as unidentified, either to a player or the trader, you would risk losing a precious black or white, but lets face it, how often does that happen?
Also, unidentified vials could become another neat trading commodity between the players.
But wait! Won't the prices of all the dyes INCREASE at the trader for people wanting to buy them?
Probably only an insignificant amount, depending on how the idea was implemented.
For example, the NPC trader could identify the dye himself once he bought it from you and return it to it's rightful pool, thus keeping the dye price stable.
Dye idea to dye for!

tome of dye people, tome of dye!
3 types of tome, one for colors, one for textures one for "bling" I just learn that word bling, for making your armor bling!
how does the tome works, simple, works like the cape design interface
how can tome of textures make guild wars slightly more interesting. it lets you import your own textures
yes, your own texture! and off course it comes with a set of pre-made textures by The wonderful concept artists.
how does bling works ? bling makes your armor *bling*, create sparkles with normal bling tome, create special animation with elite bling tome!
tome of colors, color wheel with a slider.

This idea of unidentified dyes is quite interesting. Come on guys, dont put Tactical's ideas down, hes only trying to inspire. If you had a thread would you want only the bad posts?? Lets show some empathy here.
Wonderful plan dude, this would sort of convert the dye market into the rune type market, thus creating mystery and chance; always fun things to toy with! You could make it rich or go down the hole.
This innovation would encourage players to think about their marketing instead of taking advantage of the status qou. Isn't that what honest gameplay is about? I say yes because we need some intelligent minds to shape the complex and exciting environment of Guild Wars.
The way I see it, Tactical has brought up a great idea; so lets give him a little help, change is always possible.
