This pic is from months ago, way before Factions was out. I was told it was because my comp wouldn't display foreign characters but i'm not really sure if it was.

Oh well, its possible, but impossible for us "non-asian" players.

Any whats with the wolf's arse in the screenie you took?

It was possible back in 2005 and might still be. I used to see lots of Asian players that had numbers in their character names as well as their guild tags. Don't know about now though. Honestly can't say I've seen anyone with numbers in their characters name since then aside from the test characters used on the developer server.

I think I said something about this a couple of weeks ago.

Hindu-Arabic numbers are definitely not part of any Asian language.

I don't see why they are allowed to have numbers in their name and we can't.

I think american names are prevented from having # for one simple reason.

30000000 Assasins named.

Naurto 1
Naruto 30000
Naruto 666

ANd so on...I mean we see it with just about every other game.

It's possible to type in other alphabets if you enable it through windows. I can type in Russian in game because of it. Ыууб ш сфт вщ ше руку ещщ (if this spells some sort of russian swear word, my apologies).

I'm sure it works for asian characters and i'll bet there are japanese/chinese characters that look like arabic numerals.

naw, one of the naming rules is that you may only use English characters, i could type chinese into the name, but it wouldn't let me make the character =(

That rule doesn't apply to asian territory accounts. Those accounts in the asian territory are allowed to use the characters and I think they're allowed to use numbers. If not, those are actually characters that look like arabic numerals.

I had a guy using numbers in my f-list for a good 4 months, just to watch him having numbers haha. Apparently he was Korean PvPer and had found a way through the system or something.

...but you cannot create characters with that characterset unless your account is linked to the appropriate continent.

If you want to create a guild with a numerica tag (Warriors of Sparta [300], etc) then it's a simple mattter of advertising in HA id1 for an asian fellow to help you out.
Char names, however, would not be possible.

I remember several famous Korean HAers having numbers in their names. Lots. So it's doable I imagine.

LOL

No, but seriously, the only thing that we can all safely believe is impossible in Guild Wars is duping items.

Like how Chinese players keep getting screwed by the9, who have exclusive rights to it (thanks to NCSoft selling it to them)?

May be that's because people in Asia do not tend to swear with their names using 1337-speak?

Did you know that Asians also get to use all that cool kanji? I could write "Wolf's Spirit" in two characters nobody would ever recognize! They get all the good stuff.

Koreans can use numbers in there names.

In fact, the reason that Anet allows Koreans, and all Asian games to use their own language... as well as ours? Is so that peeps from America and Europe can BUY accounts in-game from asian players so that they can say "Making FOREIGN guild tags! 卍50k卍" and they make a TON of money that way...

Kinda retarded in my opinion. If you speak English, and live in lets say Taiwan, than you would buy an American account... why would you buy a Korean game? Seriously. Anet should make it so if your Korean, you only may make tags in Korean
