It's offical! A.net HATES trees!
upier
One of my all-time favourite skill changes was the balance of Debilitating Shot.
The only reason why I REALLY love it is simple.
It has shown a superb lack of thinking things through in terms of what a certain skill's change does in the persistent world of GW. In PvP the skillbars change after a balance - in the persistent world of PvE that can't happen without the input of A.Net!
So what did this change bring?
Well, Debilitating Shot used to be an unlinked skill.
And the lovely Redwood Shepherds LOVED using it!
Then the skill was moved and all of a sudden - the guys STILL love using it.
Too bad their Marksmanship is 0!
And now - we have a new contestant for the best skill change!
Energizing Wind.
The skill was trashed a week ago.
Too bad that nobody though of the poor Oakhearts!
Yep, you guessed it!
Their Beast Mastery is .. once again ... 0!
Won't somebody please think of the chil ... I mean ... TREES!
Not only do we make toilet paper out of their brothers and sisters ... now this too ....?

XD Wow, good updates ANET. Atleast they pay attention to what they're doing.
Count to Potato
Nice, but u see how they changed monk b/c of WoH, enough complaining about trees and their atts will change!
Alexandra-Sweet
I can't count how many Assassin monsters have an incorrect combo, it's just Arena Net not thinking long enough about monster's skills/builds.

[skill]Avatar Of Melandru[/skill] Hasn't been nerfed yet.
I guess they do like trees after all

They decreased the +health from 200 to 100.
Woop Shotty
I'm sure they'll change the trees. They already changed the forgotten priests.

But... forgotten priests is PvP...

Avatar of Melandru still lives.
They don't hate trees enough.

It's not that ArenaNet hates tress, it's that Izzy is too shortsighted to see how PvP balance affects PvE monsters.

You are kidding me, right?
However, I wish Anet would take a closer look at all the monsters and henchmen and how skill changes affect them.

I think the most ominous sounding weapon name I've ever got as a drop was "forbidden staff of pruning".
Just thought I'd share that.

This is dull, the game will always be balanced around PvP, get used to it, at least you got Gwen and unlinked favor of the gods when you complained about sitting in ToA for ages w/ no ecto runs >< I /QQ

I shall run no more!
I shall stand up against the injustice of this world!
No tree shall be ever harmed again!
They can delete my characters, they can give away all my gold - but they won't take the freedom of the trees!
Tonight we dine manure to show support for our brethren!

We, the heroes, are going against it! The tree is portrayed as the source of all evil!
I am telling you - I wouldn't be surprised if by next week we'll have pictures of naked A.Net interns dancing around a burning tree, drinking sheep blood!
Mark my words!
Naked dancing!
Sheep blood!

It's just that SOMETIMES it's more effective to express the negative view through a different way then to make the 1000th thread titled "OMG!11! A.Net are teh SUXORS!11!!! They hate PvE!11!!" At least that way the thread might stay open long enough for somebody to actually notice it and do something about it rather then turning into a pissing contest and be closed down after 5 posts!
Know thy target audience - save the cheerleader!
Or tree in this case!

I was running Domination.
Then I decided that it would be better to switch to Illusion.
So I switch the skills - but not the attribute points.
Then I get in and start panicking in the team cheat that my hexes were nerfed and the game is bugged because my Nightmare lasted only like 2 secs when it should have 13!
Just goes to prove that I can still do it!

Maybe some of the skill balancers got beaten by a stick as a child and now they unload all the traumatic experience through friday night updates.

Also
Illidus of the Empty Palm cannot use his Dual...noticed this today.
It was hard enough for him since he has no hex, but now its completely impossible.

Yep your probably correct, pvp is the melting pot where most skill ballancing comes from and its effectively a good cheap way of beta testing skills before finalising them.
Certainly more skill combinations are tried in pvp than pve.
This also means that pvp causes arenanet programmers more work so if they ever decide pvp is causing more problems than it solves then it will change.
This will Probably be worse for the game as a whole.
Of course this doesnt mean as a pve player I will ever stop moaning about pvp pressure making my pve skills change.
But then Im a grumpy old man who loves to moan.
sindex
All that A-net needs to learn how to do is recycle. Recycle the skills that have no meaning or purpose anymore. You have skills that will never see the light of day, if you do not make them more versatile. Seriously, it’s not just about the overpowered skills, it’s also about the inadequate skills that need to be taken in consideration for the balance. Otherwise, every skill (or profession(s)) will eventually die a painful and horrid death.

Anets HQ is surrounded by Trees so how could they hate them being around Seattle.Go get Greenpeace on them maybe they will change it.

Evil trees that want to hurt people, turning an entire forest to stone, weapon modifiers specifically tailored to making plants die faster, fire magic being extra effective on plant types, I see how it is...
Imagine how many enemies the Silvari are going to have...
