I wonder if our chars are under diet while they arent on our screens.
I got a surprise recently, my ele was happy with her new fow armor, and i was taking a look at, then i noticed that she lost one or two polygons.
The bad thing is, she was thin already, and now she start to look like a bone minion, starving for weeks.
Plz Anet, I want to see her more healthy, the sooner the best.

Lol @ OP. I have to agree though. I think the character models are anorexic and I'd be more happy looking at some more robust female character models. I look forward to making a Norn female wammo in GW2. :]

And hell yea the assasins in GW are like twigs...

Okay, here is the deal. Each piece of armor actually REPLACES your characters skin/body. Its easier to code. ALL characters will have the same body shape it one armor, and change slightly in another (except it can be stretched vertically). Just check out how gigantic warrior's hands get wearing primeval.

I suspected that. My monk has cheap Kamadan farming armour and FoW armour. Wearing the farming armour gives my monk a AA cup whereas FoW gives at least a DD. I'm sure it's neither padding nor implants.

Well, im not complaining about the supposed weight of female chars, the point is, recently models have changed, and with them, my characters too, and i dont like that.

edit: and no, its not armor related, or it could be, it doesnt matter, the fact is my ele has changed, her fow armor has changed. btw ele fow armor is a texture applied on the body.

See this is what happens when you jog everywhere, then you eat the red bean cakes to fatten up and you run even faster.

Sumo characters hmm dont have an objection except the dance emote might be hard to do.
Wouldnt mind a sumo hero character to hid behind when the arrows start flying.

Most of the characters in the game are not realistically proportioned. This is true of many, many games. At least GW provides a diversity of unrealistic proportions. You have stick thin assassins, absurdly busty rits, gargantuanly over-broad male warriors, etc etc.

Although I like the idea of making fat/thin characters, in my experience it doesn't make any difference. Star Wars Galaxies and Phantasy Star Online both had options for character build and weight, and very few people took anything other than "tallish, thin".

It was kinda irritating running around in a universe entirely populated by people with the physical characteristics of hollywood movie stars, but it's just what most people want.

For a space game, you can blame it on the gravity.

Yeah, like how many female dwarves and tauren do you see in WoW...

I'm not sure whether you're referring to me here, but I'm talking about bone structure. I think they're horrible looking, but I don't think they're fat.

Unlike many gamers, the toons they are playing are not spending 12+ hours per day sitting in a chair clicking a mouse.

While the proportions of female toons are not realistic, they are certainly not too thin for where active women on a low to no beef diets tend to come in. Live in Asia or Europe sometime and you'll come to think even fit Americans are fat.

The only toons in GW who I think are too/thick would be the male warriors - who are too fat.

I think you're talking about istani. In that case, that's correct. The istani armor is wrapped very tightly around the body, so the breasts get squashed. That way it looks like they're not... well-endowed at all.

Edit: on the topic of sins, can you imagine a really fat asian shadowstepping in front of you and then trying to assassinate you?

Sins need to be agile, hence anorexic.

Having a bit more robust female characters doesn't necessarily mean fat. Weird how people always go for either anorexic thin or overly fat. I think that characters in the GW universe would never really be fat due to all the excercize they get running around smiting things, but there's still space in there for the more naturally rounder female figures.

Really, I'd love to have a normal-sized mesmer/ele with some proper soft curves on her (and not just in the chest/hip department). One of the reasons I like mesmer primeval armor so much, it actually makes them look more like a normal woman.

Yeah I want to play a middle-aged mother of three with cottage cheese ass and thunder thighs.

Oh wait, I have Livia...

Please...there's a reason this is a Fantasy game, not a life simulator. If you want a chunky sprite, go play the Sims.

anyway,
I think its time to have body weight selectors in your character creation screen. like the height adjuster, this ones is side ways. i think it would be fun to see some chubby characters running around the town.

Sims don't have chunky sprite.... they are all slender, even the fattest one, the chunky ones are Custom Made.

The currently available 'height' slider on the character creation screen actually controls a uniform 3D scaling factor instead of height, and there is a technical reason for that (it's called 'armor'). The implemented system is not terribly realistic since in reality the head doesn't scale with body size, and apparently, people would want to have non-uniform or even body part specific scaling options. While it would certainly be fun (and I bet that some people would like to have even more 'fun' than the others - a good reason if any for not enabling it ), from a technical point of view it would become a nightmare. There are already clipping problems and other graphical glitches in the one-(scaled)-size-fits-all approach, now multiply that with all the possible combinations of body shapes that the extended customization interface would allow.

And yes, when comparing the Vabbian and Canthan female elementalist chest pieces, it is quite apparent that the Canthan version has at least an inch of padding in strategic places. I prefer Vabbian, even at the risk of a major wardrobe malfunction

I don't like the idea that games support the overly anorexic female bodytype. It gives a horrible message to the youth and people in general. The male models ingame are certainly much more well rounded compared to the female ones and just having a more rounded female model doesn't nessecarily equal fat but brings some much needed variety. None of the ingame models are really fat atm. They all look pretty toned and as for the warrior males it's a matter of having nothing similiar to compare them with that makes them stand out. Like a box amidst all the sticks. :d

A healthy well rounded female is imho the most attractive bodytype. I just think the female models' waist especially is very unrealistically thin like they were wearing a fetish corset 24/7. Just looking at my norn female para made me think this. Pretty sure this is not so much an issue with GW2 since there will be several races that all look different.

Maybe the reason that you can't choose fatness is because the REALLY chunky characters would have more of them to get AoE'd.
