Guild wars on different PC's?

On my desktop PC, I have Prophecies, Factions, and NF installed. Well just recently I got a laptop in my room so I decided to install GW on it. I've installed Prophecies and Factions, but I haven't gotten to NF yet. Anyways, I was playing GW on my laptop (the one that I haven't installed NF on) and I accidentally clicked on a Nightfall character. To my surprise, it loaded up my NF character in Kamadan. If I don't have it installed, why did it open up NF?

You don't "install" the games with the keys, you "allow" access through your account.
Your account is stored server-side.

Yeah... all the data to play the game as well as your characters and items are server side. Once you install any one of the games, the games auto updater when you first log on downloads the files for ALL the games.

Every installation has all content. It's your account that determines what you can play.

Basically, the cds are a way to install the client and the files required to play faster than if you download them form the internet. As soon as you login, the game will download any other data it needs to play the game. Once that first bit of data is downloaded, the client will download the data as needed. So, even if you don't have a campaign installed, when you try to access it the client will download the required content for you.
If you want to install everything, even areas you haven't been in before you can add -image to your shortcut path. Use this link to learn how to use the command: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Command_line. There are other useful command lines there too.

Doesn't matter how many/few games you actually own- the entire package is still stored on your computer.

Its also possible to download the GW.exe and start it. this data has only some kByte but it will download every requirred stuff form the GW servers (up to 3 GigaByte Oo). My 2nd Account doesnt have Nightfall but i also installed it on my 2nd Computer, because its possible that i will run my primary acc on it and i dont want to load the hole NF Game ...
