would it be hard for anet to implement some kinda of player counter like when you first start the client you see the text that says:
xxxxxx people are currentl online.
(numbers in word form) people are playing!
alot of people would like this for instance people that wanna make sure gw is still popular.
and people who wanna pick the best play time based on current population.
and people who spend a few minutes promoting guild wars who would like to see their promotioning worked
and lets not forget the people who would like to see gw have more players than other games.
i dont think this would be to hard for arena net and it probably wouldnt cost much and it would be a nifty new feature.
ps:if you disagree with this please say a reason why.
how many are online?

Online Game companies tend not to list amount of active players to avoid bad press if the number is too low and if the number is too high, it might help competing companies.
(However, games like World of Warcraft can flaunt their subscriber level as an intimidation tactic. Obviously, Guild Wars can't do that.
Even then, WoW will not tell you how many active players are on a single server (Only Low, Medium, High, and Full))

If a game A has 50,000 concurrent, and game B 250,000, is game B 5 times as successful as A? As it turns out, those two numbers are completely irrelevant.
When Anet published their server architecture a while back, the numbers estimated from there were 50,000 - 150,000 concurrent.

Id would be a nice curiosity.
I don't care if they are 100 or 100.000. But it would be interesting to know things, like when you have lag, check the ammount of people and compare, you'll get to know if it's due to that or not.

it wont matter if wow still has more players just so many people like me that are so curious about the number of players.

I'd like it if there was a number of players listed for who are trying to enter the same battle.
It sort of sucks waiting in AB trying to get your game going for about 10 minutes and just giving up.
