Would a Skill balance forum help?

Here's a question for the Guild Wars Guru team and ArenaNet.

Would it make sense to have a (sub)forum dedicated to Skill balance on Guru?

And if we had one, would ArenaNet's Skill balance team actively read it to see which Skills most people think need a rebalance and, if they deem it necessary, act upon it?

I believe that, as of now, Sardelac Sanitarium is intended for that purpose, but it's usually riddled with (take not too much offense) completely unrealistic ideas suggesting new skills, professions and game mechanics.

Having a dedicated (sub)forum would at least keep our (equally unrealistic) ideas concerning existing Skills and professions in one place.

What do you think?

Gladiator’s Arena (44 Viewing)
PvP Builds and Discussion
A gathering for PvP players to discuss builds, strategies and tactics.
Sub-Forums: Guild Battle, Heroes' Ascent, Team Arena, Hero vs Hero Arena, Alliance Battles, PvP Build Directory

There's also a subforum called PvE Skill Discussion in The Campfire, but I presume this only deals with PvE Skills.

Obviously, we'd need something a bit more "centrally" located. Skill balances are a big deal in this game, after all.

A sub-forum of Sardelac, for instance.

Personally, I'm just fine not knowing what terrible ideas people have for skill balances.

We don't need an entire board to listen to everyone's poor suggestions for skill balance when we already have all of the rest of the forum to listen to everyone's poor suggestions for skill balance.

Yeah the majority of players dont have a clue when it comes to skill balance.

There are always good posts by those who do and I hope they get read, no need to invite terrible ideas however

There already is such a forum: User_talk:Izzy.

Warning: reading that page might make you hate your fellow players even more than you do currently.

So you guys are fine with a forum dedicated to Concept Classes that will never even have the slightest hint of a chance at making it in-game, but not with the community having a say on Skill balances that happen on an almost weekly basis?

Actually, if you hate these threads so much, it should be bliss for you, as they will all be neatly tucked away in a separate forum.

Win-win.

Which is exactly why we would need a clear and readable forum dedicated to this.

If I was assured that it would move ALL postings about skill balances rebalances re re balances nerfs and similar to one sub forum, I would vote for it in a second.

Oh what the heck

I think it'll turn into a lot of shitty ideas very quickly. like the concept class forum.
and the good ones will be impossible to find among the piles of bad ones.

BTW, it's Gladiator's forum>Build discussion>PvP skill discussion.

There were a few interesting threads on it before, specifically on GolE and Aegis. But now it has just dumb threads.

and the good ones will be impossible to find among the piles of bad ones. That is the problem with any forum.

At least, good threads will get bumped and bad threads will get buried (or, in seriously dreadful cases, closed).

It beats the travesty of this.

I will never forget the Summon Dragon idea.
You summon a lvl 30 dragon that deals 100-140 dmg and has 1200 hp!

Heh, if we could put all the QQs after every update/skillbalance/nerfbatrampage there so I could completely ignore that section, then yes, it would be a great idea.

Off-Topic & the Absurd ...tis where my revert Dorian thread ended up and where the majority of the expert skill balancers' threads SHOULD end up.

Off Topic...because GW isn't about balance anymore
Absurd...because people think PvP still has a chance

How about on one of the forums, create three moderated threads after Izzy's example: one for overpowered skills, underpowered skills, skills that need minor tweaking. If there comes about a general consensus that a skill belongs in one of the three categories, one of the mods can add it to the OP and give a breif reason why it belongs there.

Izzy gets enough suggestions from people who know about balance, this forum would be a waste of space and time.
