have anyone ever seen a commercial of guild wars on the television well i most certainly have not.
advertising on magazines and other websites really doesn't work gw needs to be advertised in a broadcasting network were millions of people will see.
they can start showing all the good things about gw then gloat about it having no monthly fees.
so my idea if anet makes a commercial to be put on tv on all 50 states of america and probably other areas i bet guild wars will hit 11 million units sold by the time gw2 has been released.
we would all like to see guild wars have more sales and more sales will support development for gw2 giving us a better game in the future.
if anyone has ever seen a commercial for gw on the television please tell me were you live and what channel you saw it in.

i know it can probably be pretty costly for anet to make a commercial but isnt it ncsofts job to pay for that kinda stuff their the greedy publishers and all that money will be made up with all the sales their gonna make.

At this point what does GW have to brag about besides no monthly fees?

QFT.

Guild Wars isn't that great right now, and it's just getting worse because ANet is busy with GW2. It's too late for commericals tbh. Maybe for GW2, but definetly not for GW.

GW has alot to brag out really. Monthey Fees NONE would be one but also what about the PvP, so of the best out there? and the fact that is just pwns the shit out of WoW or any other MMORPG game out there.

Yeah, we can brag that we have unique PvP with poor balance in a dying game. That'll bring in alot.

GW being the best MMORPG is your opinion. I'm sure many people would beg to differ.

Too late for GW commercials. Its the end of the game's cycle. Doesnt necessarily mean the game is dead/dying completely yet, but, there is nothing new coming out for it and most of the resources are tied up in GW2 development that might otherwise give new content, perform balances etc.

Maybe for GW2.

WoW just started using heavy TV Commercials.

It's all about demographics. Chances are, people who watch TV don't play video games on the computer.

WoW has no testicles lets not talk about it.

GW's lifespan is to short for commercials...actually thats not true.

The Peak selling point of most console games is 1 year, GW has about 2 years on it.
GW also cost the same as a console game and has the same 1 time payment as them.

Beauty. It's a beautiful game... the most beautiful game out. The artists are the best in the business.

And it's not too late to start advertising. Advertising would bring in a whole new wave of players who would start with one campaign and then buy the others. Advertising is very expensive, and it would have to bring in enough players to warrant the expense. So maybe NCSoft is taking the "wait-and-see" position to see what Blizzard's ROI is on advertising.

People don't care about how beautiful a game is. People care about the quality of a game.

It is too late. ANet could care less about new players for GW. They're making GW2. They do not care if more people buy GW. They have our money, which is enough to last them until GW2. Advertising now is pointless, the games not going to get any better, and when GW2 arrives it will be mostly forgotten.

This is why its too late. Not sure I'd word Arkantos's comment quite exactly like that, but I think its still fundamentally true. Advertising is really, really expensive on a national level for television. Ungainly so. Most of Anet's focus is now on GW2. Its where their resources are, both in terms of personnel and funding. Hard to see them invest so much into advertising now.

Since they cant market a specific upcoming chapter, they would have to advertise GW generally. Somewhere within the company are marketing types that probably sum up a marketing profile in reply to an idea like this as roughly "Most gamers that would have bought GW already have." Its these people you would have to convince that there are so many out there who would buy into GW now that they would make more than the advertising cost back. Hard to do, when I myself do think most who would have bought GW have. Not all, but most. Makes an ad campaign harder when you cant go and push a new chapter with an ad.

They'd therefore probably look at it as a little risky investment-wise and would rather use the funds they have to develop GW2. That at least was where my comments were coming from with "Its too late." Not implying the game is now somehow unmarketable or that it is dying. Its peaked though, yes.

I'll have to agree with this one. The only problem is that beauty means nothing if the game mechanics and gameplay are not as good. That reminds me, I want to play FF12 again

I don't know about you guys, but I think the game mechanics and all that is as good as the graphics in Guild Wars.
I've played a couple of MMORPGs with monthly fees, and they haven't really lived up to my expectations >_>

But of course this game is going to get old and eventually die out soon...it only has a single progressive storyline that can be finished in a week, and one day people are going to run out of things to do, get bored, and quit.

gw gets tv time on stations like G4TV along with all the other games. no one but gamers really watch that show anyways. thus it has free advertising, a gaming tv network does a review on GW, people see it on tv, log on the pc and play it. free advertisement is pretty swell.

They don't need a TV advertisement, they have tons of internet adds, magazine adds, and not to mention people from WoW, RuneScape, and other MMORPG's Transfer over to guild wars, as people from Guild Wars transfer over to other MMORPG's.

There's a big chain in MMORPG's, where everyone learns of the different games. I wouldn't know what WoW is if I hadn't played Guild Wars.
