I Smell Treasure...

first off, let me say that i wasnt quit sure where to post this thread, but anyway, here goes..

my friend and i where talking, and he mentioned i could get like, 20k+items if i just opened these chests that are scattered across the map. here are my questions:

1. do these things exist?

2.if so, where are they?

3.how many are there?

it would really help if you could post a hyperlink to a map or sumthing

Can you get the chests more than once?

Yes the chests will reset after a certain amount of time, so the same character will be able to open it again.

However it has been said that the more times you open them the worse the drops become, so don't expect to always get the same amount of money or gold items every time.

its unknown how long the time is between they are filled i think, but i check 1-1½ month between, and you might even get a gem from them

You can open treasure on the same day without affecting the quality of the drops. But the longer you wait between riounds of opening the chests, the better the next round will be. I checked the one on Issnur Isles with one character after 30 days and it reset, but I only got a crap purple and less than 300g. I checked it with another character after after 45 days and got 590g + a crap gold. (about the same as what I got the very first time I opened it) I took that as a good sign and checked the rest of the chests and came out with decent gold amounts, but mostly purple items (I think I got 2 golds total on that character.)

I'm gonna see what happens at the 60 day mark this weekend with another character.

I'm pretty sure this is account based, since my monk hasnt opened any treasures since april, but recently I ran all chests again. I've opened all the chests on my Paragon, Ritualist and Necromancer a couple of times in that time. After opening all 12 chests, most of them were purple (only 2 gold i think) and I got 9k in total from them... Oo

It is not worth opening them anymore for me. Opening Hidden Treasures is more profitable if you get Onyxes from them.

These chests are bassed on each char, not account so every char can open each chest once, then wait 1-3months and open again.

However after you have sucessfully opened them 4-5 times the quality of the items and amount of money will decrease. By the 6 time you will likely get 11 purple items and 1gold/gem.


Note: Burried Treasure, Treasure chests, Do Not Touch are the names you should look for on wiki to find all locations.

You'll be lucky if they respawn, I haven't been able to open mine since they were implemented- and I waited 1-2 months in between attempts.

owch mine have reset 4 times now payed for elite armors w00t

So far I've been extremely lucky with my Chest Runs. Not once have I got a single purple yet. I usually wait 1 month between each time, running all chars on the same day. This month's run day is Christmas (last time I opened them all on Nov 25th) so hopefully Santa gives me good chests.

Well since there's a thread about it already, I might as well post my question in it -

My main character hasn't had those treasures reset in like 2 months yet all the others have. Why is that? Is it because she's got KOABD or something? Or because I'm on her the most? That doesn't make sense.
