UK PC Zone 188 (Christmas Issue), Morrisons Special
Fril Estelin
Hi there,
Though this info may only be relevant to people in the UK, I thought I'd share it. The issue 188 of PC Zone (which had a few gold tickets in the last issue for minipets, wasn't so good, but...) is apparently sold at Morrisons shop with the Guild Wars Factions Official Guidebook at the same price as the normal issue. I actually managed to buy it at my local Tesco (a big one).

Secondly the errors and omissions are just... well... did the people who wrote this actually play the same game as I'm playing? Anyone who's ever played a ranger knows "Troll ung" is not a "nature ritual which creates a level 1.. 10 spirit." Good grief.
I had a conversation with my guildmates about 101 uses for the guide - the best we could come up with was use it as a starter offhand or as loo paper. I wish I hadn't wasted my money. |

Indeed the pictures are bad, there are mistakes (and it's old, so nerfs changed quite a lot of things). But well, you're free to choose whether or not to buy it.
Anyway thanks for the complementary info!

To be honest, if you hadn't posted the link to negative comments, I probably wouldn't have commented.

I wouldn't have bought the book (if not for a pound or so), but with this PC Zone I'm quite happy with the deal. There're quite a lot of reviews (Crysis, PC Gears of Wars, UT 3, etc.) and I even noticed a little page on GW:EN (it's the one where one guy tales the story of his experience on one MMO, he already did the same a while ago on Nightfall).
Anyway, free food

Wow, cool - cheers for this. Already got the issue, but I might give it a look anyway. Factions has some of my favourite artwork - Sounds like a good deal.
Guest starring me Woo!

Guide Book? Is that the book that has everything incorrect in it?

Very strangely, I saw another PC Zone special to Tesco (may be Morrisons too?) with a mini-booklet "the art of guild wars" (I think it's the one with the GW GOTY standard box). I checked in other stores and the PC Zones don't have that (there's a CoH/CoV/AA box with one month subscription).
I hope I'm starting to see a trend here, because PC Zone is not a bad gaming magazine and I like to see more press coverage of GW, and freebies too!

PC Gamer UK also had a sticker on the front pertaining to the free Art of Guild Wars Book 2 within, in my local WH Smiths. A bonus treat considering I have all the artbooks from the Collectors Editions, and was only missing the Guild Wars Special Edition one.
