So, here's the situation...

I've been in my current guild for years. About two years ago, this was the second guild I joined, and I was extremely lucky - I made loads of friends and had great fun, but then I took a break of about 8 or so months, came back, and the guild is still alright, but it's now been 3 months 'till I've come back and I feel as though things are starting to slip.

I LOVE my alliance, everyone's brilliant - I've had amazing fun, noone is about the holy trinity thing, and everything is great... apart from my guild.

I love my guild, but I think it's time to move on. I have one or two friends from there that are still active that I can just add to my friends list. However, my main problem is that I'd like to be rewarded. After 3 months of solid dedication to the guild (offering to get GVG's going, high end PVE, helping within the guild, etc) I've not even gotten to the second rank of the ranking system that my guild uses, which is rather annoying if you ask me.

Hence, I've been thinking about joining the alliance leader's guild. They're extremely active, just like me, and I feel as though they'd reward me for my efforts, because the leader there is WAY more active and involved than my current guild leader. The alliance leader said it was fine with him so long as I contact my GL first to gain permission to avoid future conflicts, but whilst I've contacted my GL via our forums, I've still to get any form of response.

So... I have three options. One, is to stay in my current guild, two, is to join the alliance's guild and the third is to make one of my own (seeing as my school work is being handled and I have the time and patience, plus a friend who'd be willing to help).

Any advice would be brilliant.

I've experienced something like this. I ended up joining another guild, had loads of fun. Then later on I actually ended up making my own. I'd say if you want to be rewarded then join the alliance leaders guild. However if you're up for more of a challenge I'd say go with creating your own guild. Maybe even join your current alliance if there's room.

I was thinking of getting r4/5 KOABD for my main character before moving on, mainly because I'll have enough cash for a GH and stuff; although, I might just stay with the Alliance leader for a couple of months or so for some peaceful gaming, so that I can concentrate on school and then when summer comes along I could start a guild of my own.

I say go for it and join the Alliance Guild! It sounds like your guild doesn't appreciate you, and that just isn't cool.

Did you ever talk to your guild leader about this? Sometimes things like this just involve a misunderstanding that needs to be cleared up.

Making your own guild is very difficult and requires a ton of dedication and more than a little luck. Also, you'd need to be sure that your guild would have any chance of getting into the alliance.

If you pursue joining the main alliance guild, be sure to inform the leader that your guild leader never responded to you so keep everything on the level, and discuss your expectations of reward with her/him so that there is no misunderstanding. Additionally, if you DO decide to wait and form your own guild, it would be polite to let the alliance leader know this is your future intention.

I was in a somewhat similar situation a year ago.

I had joined a guild, and had some fun times with it. But slowly, I found that I had outgrown the guild, meaning the level at which I had grown to play was beyond the level of the members of the guild and I began having to babysit their characters, which just isn't fun.

My then alliance leader was aware of the situation, and slowly sort of 'courted' me to join his guild. I was apprehensive because I didn't want any drama, but that GL really wanted me to come and be an officer in his guild, and help arrange event activities and such, which was right up my alley.

I did choose to leave and join the ally guild, and I did get a whack of drama from my previous guild (including my old GL melodramatically declaring he was quitting GW forever on Vent). But it turned out to be worth it. When I joined the ally guild, I immediately started organzing events and we had pretty good turn-outs. The guild's momentum grew, many of the members evolved into strong players. Unfortunately, months later the new GL had terrible real life tragedies distrupt his life, the guild went south and I moved on. But still, in the end, you have to keep in mind that you need to play your game the way you find the most fun. It is just a game, regardless of the social ties one makes within it, and you always should spend your playtime doing what makes you happy. You're not playing for other people.
