Whats the most commonly played second prof.
sky99
What is the most commonly played second proffesion(for assassin) and why? I'm starting an assasin soon and would like to know. And no i'm not asking for the best second prof for assasin.
Pyro maniac
warrior for an IAS, monk for mending touch
sky99
Whats the most commonly played second proffesion if you are only going to play Factions based skills on your assasin.
ensoriki
Pyro maniac is incorrect.
In Pve
The most used secondarys are
A/E, A/me, A/mo and A/R from what i've seen.
In nightfall you will see more A/D's as well.
A/W is also used but to a lesser extent and more commonly seen in pvp.

Flurry is prophecies, but you can use Tiger Stance

I'm going to go A/E. Is this is a good idea? Factions only skills. In the future I'll play through prophecies and nightfall.

I don't know what other skills would be usefull on a sin, except going hammer sin, crit barrager or scythe sin.
A/E are mostly farmers, conjure is just crap. And have absolutely no idea for A/Me.

What is the most commonly used second profession.
Which is not warrior in pve.
A/Me, has some things the sin can use.
Also, the assassin doesn't need a/W in pve with critical agility (except he doesn't have nightfall right?)
Thus if you have critical agility, wtf would you take warrior for an IAS?
You'd take warrior for something else.
In which case there are less things than the other 4 mention'd classes.

I picked ele as my second proffesion. I am a fire ele. Is it a good idea to invest in all assasin stats and fire stat or will I have problems?
Vexed
So you basically ignored the suggestions here?
Probably the best thing your elementalist secondary can offer is a conjure, and maybe Shock for causing a knockdown. You don't want to be casting spells in combat.

Stick to your dagger skills, stick to dagger skills until you are level 20.
Once you are level come back and talk to us and we give you further guidance if you need it.
Though many will bash it.
As you are new go to pvxwiki.com and General pve builds for the assassin.
Look it up a bit, although Personally I would've rather you wen't mesmer and took Mantra of Frost for the afflicted, because afflicted are one of the worst hurdles any new assassin must face, as they can ruin your morale and make you quit the profession.

Okay im going A/me. I got the money from my old assasin and green daggers and brought some beginner armor in shing jea. If i'm going A/Me what stats are good to invest in? Mastery shadow deadly or critical. And what should I invest in for mesmer.

Until Zen daijun (maybe the quest with afflicted right before it)
Take ALL assassin skills.
Once you've reached Zen daijun/main land.
Carry Mantra of Frost, for everywhere afflicted are.
Gives you a large boost in defense.
Once you are at that part , dump your shadow arts (your probably using 8) all into the mantra attribute (I cant remember).
Just use that until you get to Senji, and then change your profession at will.

Mantra of frost is a core skill you can simply get it at a skill trainer unless you have bought many skills thus it will be cheap.

Which skill trainer? What city/town? It won't be those high end skill trainers where you have to get to pretty much end of end game to get right?(ahh I see. Kaineng center.)
Right now I have A/Me. 6 Domination magic(going switch to inspiration for mantra of frost) 9 dagger mastery +1 mask. and 6 shadow arts.Level 13.
Wielding NPC crafted armor (Seitung) brought from the seitung harbor.
55 Armor a piece
Maxed green weapon. Calws of motherbrood or something similar to that. 7-17 damage. 15^50. Extends poisoning duration by 33%(Stacking).30+ health.
My skill build is something like this.
Jagged Strike(Causes bleeding.LEad attack)
Fox fangs( off hand.cannot be blocked and causes 5....25+ damage)
Death Blossom(dual attack. Strikes foe for 20+.....40 damage and strikes all adjacent take 20-40 damage. Love when I get crits with this skill. I see A lot of numbers with a lot of digits.)
Shadow Refuge.(5....9 health regen and 20.....68 health if attacking.6 seconds
Cloud of distress.(If you are blow 50% HP you have a 75% chance to block all attacks 32 seconds.
Power spike. (Cast this on a monster doing a chant or spell and do 60 damage to him and interupts skill. Gonna switch this with something else soon.
Empathy(Everytime a foe attacks it takes 32 or more damage.)
Ressurection signet.

If your daggers have a poisonous mod, i'd use an attack that has poison. At your stats, the condition would be applied for about 20 seconds. 4 pips of degen for twenty seconds is 160 d.o.t. i believe.
Power Spike is nice, but if you want an interrupt, Disrupting dagger ftw. You don't even need points in DA.
Empathy is just not my cup of Grey Goose.
If i were in your position, i'd use a degen condition build with Epidemic.
I, personally, wouldn't use Cloud of Distress. If i find myself with problems, i use Return.
How far in the game are you? btw.

To save your skill points do this
13 critical strikes (12+1)
13 dagger mastery (11+1+1)
you should pump the rest into shadow arts.
Take pugs (OMFG wtf Pugs) with a Winter ranger if you can.
Then take Mantra of Frost (rest of your attributes into inspiration).
And your good to go.
or Just go Pure sin, you won't use your secondary much as an assassin unless A/mo A/W or farming.
A/mo and A/W are not necessary.
And generally many assassins fair better without use of their secondary at all.
The mesmer part of you is just there for support in certain areas.
In which case the Mantra's are useful, among other skills the mesmer offers.
However you will generally not use your Mesmer secondary alot
You wouldn't use any secondary alot unless in a specific build.
Also Get nightfall and prophecies to boost your efficiency 10 fold.

Start using it once about level 20 and you've done ALL the attribute quests.
Don't use it for the sake of using it however.

You're thinking about your secondary in entirely the wrong way. You don't want to be an assassin that is also a mesmer and try to run skills from both professions. As a primary assassin, you should always be using mostly assassin skills.
Your secondary should provide one or two skills that will augment your build or your survivability better than simply taking 8 sin skills. Hence the mantra of frost suggestion: One skill to increase survivability against the Afflicted. I wouldn't run anything else from the mesmer line.
Other examples of good secondary usage:
Mo/E running only Glyph of Lesser Energy from the Elementalist line.
N/Me running only Arcane Echo from the Mesmer line.
Spreading yourself thin by using too many skills from your secondary results in an ineffective build. Focus on your primary and look for one or two non-sin skills to help it along.

Hmm right. So what skills are worth using for A/Me
ensoriki
Quite a few, of course some of them are simply gimmick builds.
Depending on where you are in the world of tyria
[card]Mantra of frost[/card]
[card]Mantra of Earth[/card]
[card]Mantra of Flame[/card]
[card]Mantra of lightning[/card]
[card]Elemental resistance[/card]
[card]Physical resistance[/card]
Other purposes
[card]BackFire[/card], backfire sins are uncommon, and are slow do to backfires long activation but they are somewhat decent at hurting casters. Generally a bad idea for Pve and only a moderate idea for pvp.
[card]Empathy[/card], melee equivalent of Backfire
[card]Arcane Echo[/card]
[card]Echo[/card]
[card]Illusionary Weaponry[/card], the best use is to have it on a hero and arcane mimicry it while having locust fury on
[card]Illusion of weakness[/card] not common, but usable
The above examples are generally not the greatest examples in the world. These are currently at the top of my head with little thought put into them
Check PvXwiki.com or Gw.gamewikis.org and search through the mesmer skill line to see what interest you.
Remember, you are an assassin.
The assassin class is a melee class with a little mesmer touch already implemented into them. Remember to use your assassin skills and secondary skills only to augment them or for support.
Or you could take 1 of the many interrupts from the mesmer line.
The mesmer does not provide much functions for the assassin, however what it does can be efficient enough for pve, or very reusable for pve.

I play A/W mostly. Not for Tiger Stance.
[skill]Arcane echo[/skill]... when A/Me is the only thing worth it at the top of my head.
In the Inspiration line, there's also [skill]channeling[/skill][skill]drain enchantment[/skill][skill]energy drain[/skill][skill]energy tap[/skill][skill]ether signet[/skill][skill]keystone signet[/skill], etc. etc.
so there's plenty of food for an Assacaster.

Even with a pure sin you can take restful breeze with barely any points in healing(or whatever it is) and it is still pretty decent after the uber buff it got. And to top it of it teaches people not to keep attacking with an assassin when they need to heal/run.

12 dagger mastery+1 mask
7 shadow mastery
10 criticals(GOnna buy runes for it)
