The Mini Black Moa Woes

I started a pre searing gopher named "Tapestry Shreds" to get tapestry shreds for my old Prophecy character. These are not customised so at least that works. But having deleted Zho's book and then wanting another is quite tragic because it was not made clear to avoid deleting this item. My sympathies with the OP.

Zho's journal had dropped for the 3 characters I used to fight the tournament. It seemed like it was dropping like flies. Like the OP I deleted the journal not realizing it wouldn't drop again, or that I would need it to get the NPCs to speak to my character.

What a bummer.

My main char has his, got it and the black moa ranger pet at the same time just because.
They could just make it a non repeatable quest to do.

I'm not sure how it would be changed but they should make it so you can get the journal again. I haven't gotten it with my ranger. I've fought Zho and won. Fought Zho and lost. still no book. and i know i haven't accidentally deleted it. I've never had a copy of that book in my inventory. They should just add Zho to an outpost somewhere where you talk to her and she gives you the book. Still have everything else in the quest/acquisition of mini-pet the same, just add a customized book to your inventory for talking to her. and you cant have more than one in your inventory. I really wanted to do this quest/treasure hunt but I can't because I never got a book.



EDIT* Nevermind, it seems that you only get the book from beating her, and i guess i havn't beaten her yet. What I read before was wrong. It said that you just had to fight her, win or lose, and she would give you the book.

I still think they should change it though. Makes it unfair for people who don't know what to do with it. And I think it's stupid that you have to read something online to progress in the game.

They limited the books to 1 per char to keep people from farming it to sell the mini I think. To complete the cycle you must have access to all 3 campaigns and EOTN. Not every player does, so not every player can get the mini. That means those ppl must buy it if they really want it. As we've seen many times, ppl that can will charge whatever they can get away with until it's farmed into the ground. The theory here was to prevent that. While I do think it'd be nice if you could get accidentally deleted books replaced, that would undoubtedly get abused by ppl looking to farm the bird.

The book itself tells you what to do. Yeah it's vague .. but that's half the fun. The reason wiki has a how-to now is ppl figured it out Personally, I loved the scavenger hunt mystery aspect of it, wish they'd do more like that.

Just buy another one or something as a gift. It'd be a lot easier than complaining to the developers about a problem you created

Customized items can no longer be put into the trade window. This suggestion would work now.

Sorry but this will never happen, personally I have 2 accounts 1 which I play and another for storage, sometimes I store old armors on account 2, your idea would block me from doing this. Not gonna happen.

I could understand if when Zho's Journal first came out and nobody understood how it worked, but now all the info appears on the wiki.

I ran into the same problem and am unable to get a moa chick either. I reporetd this as a bug but the thread got closed in the forum. I got the book very early, before the quest was even created. It was taking up space in my inventory so I tossed it. Later on when the quest came about (or was found out), I went back to the bison tourny to get another book since I had never turned in my old one for an incubator. Lo' and behold, I am unable to achieve another book to start the quest. Looks like we just got screwed bud.

I would like to see some way for those that threw the journal away (not knowing at the time that it would have a use) to be able to get it again. I'm sure ANet's logs would show that, and not that someone was trying to take advantage.

Actually, the easiest way to fix this would be to make it that Katherine would only create an incubator for you one time, and that Zho would give you another book if you did not have one in inventory when you beat her in the tourney. That way people who do not read the wiki would still be able to get the mini black moa chick once they learned about it, even if they had trashed the book.

I think Zho should just hand you a new customized copy if you have none in your inventory. Easily implemented I think. You could instead have Katherine only craft you an incubator ONCE per character. problem solved. Nobody's gonna delete his/her incubator unless they're really stupid. You paid 5k plus rare materials for it, and stashed the ingredients in it, so you know you don't want to delete it. You need it to get the chick. The book is another story.

It's now just taking up another free slot in my already too cramped inventory on each of my characters, untill I manage to get the incubator kit from Katharine.
After I get my chicks, I'm certainly deleting all the books for more space, even though I like the book and the story within. (I might keep just one).

Sadly, I put up a suggestion for this in the suggestion forums and it was locked for "working as intended".

Sounds like you put it in the "bug section" which is where threads are closed for that.
