trial acct, not begging for key

Hiya folks, apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but I'm giving a trial key to a friend and wondered if they can upgrade their account if they like the game and keep their character, or if they have to create a new account and lose their character

As long as they've still got the client on their computer, they should be able to add the full version access key to the account, and keep the character.

Go to Manage Access Keys -> Add Key (or simply purchase the full version through the online store after logging into the trial account.)

NP, Lhen Tzu. Let me know if you run into any trouble. Only possible complication I can see is whether or not you can actually log in to the store with an expired Trial Key... might have to go to PlayNC store instead. 'Luck!

it doesnt matter if the client is kept on the computer.
(of course it will have to be re downloaded to play again)
You should be able to log in with an expired trial and add keys to it. from any computer with the gw client.

True, NEDM - I was just trying to keep it simpler for the ease of explanation.

Thanks for the clarification on the expired/non-expired issue; I wasn't sure.
