Hey everyone, I've noticed that these are very difficult to find, don't farm much but probably more than most players however. Guildwiki states now they can be found as drops during the "Drakes on a plain" quest. Wiki said a few weeks ago they dropped in the "Desolation"? I have seen an inscribable chaos axe from the FOW end chest. The Drakes quest is in a low end drop area. If I get a Shadow drop, it will probably not be max armor. Why, with all the price drops on everything & the over farming, is it still so difficult to find one item?
Edit : See what I mean? I get the buried treasure in domain of secrets also. There should be more reliable info on such a rare & sought after shield.

Shadow Shield skin sucks. You can probaly get a r9 inscrip for 15k tops if you really want one.

The inscribable ones only come from the FoW end chest. I don't know what Guildwiki is going on about. Good luck getting one.

u can get inscr shadow shields from the buried treasure in domain of secrets and from the fow end chest.
that's it.
what's good about fow end chest is that u can get shadow shields req TACTICS. a pal in my groun had a tact inscr one there

Inscribeable shadow shields drop in the Realm of Torment.
I have not seen them drop in the Domain of Anguish, but the Shadow Army in the Domain of Pain and Fear drops them.
I had gold, blue and purple r11/12 shields drop there, did not keep them. If you are not going for perfection you will get one there in a few runs.

shouldn't there be more inscribable shadow shields for sale if they dropped so easily ?
I thought they could only drop from obsidian furnace drakes in kourna, hoh chest and fow end chest

Those dragons gave me a lot of "shadow series items"
I got 3 purple chaos axes (i am using the q9 one^^), 1 gold, several blue
all have ins~~
Also got two purple shadow shields (q10 & 12)
Some gold/purple shadow staffs, as well as shadow blade
Farm with Koss using 55 monk, not difficult but time consuming
About 10-20min

-"Drakes on the Plain" Obsidian Furnace Drakes, which are lvl 24 in NM, 26 in HM. However, there are only 4 OF Drakes a run.
-Buried Treasure in the Realm of Torment.
-HoH chest.
-FoW end chest.

15+ runs in the domain of pain, 0 shadow weapons. 20-30 shadow army kills per run, not even a white drop!!
12+ runs through the drakes quest with a friend so shouldn't have triggered the so-called farming nerf, 0 shadow weapons.
Does ANET read these posts? If so, why should players have a one time chance from a treasure chest? Why should we waste hours in FOW to get to an end chest? Obviously, players have found inscribable shadow items in several easily accessible areas in the past or I'm just being played. Has anyone heard of inscribable magmas shields? Why can they be found in chests in the DOA? Anywhere the shadow army patrols should drop shadow items!!

ONLY from buried treasures, and very rarely. that's the only way to have one in nightfall.

No, no "shadow" item is worth much. Except the shields mentioned here.
I am almost tempted to go back to the Torment areas to look for inscribeable shadow shields. Seems I gave the OP false hopes, sorry for that.

I don't think they can drop from RoT chests or w/e, the NF shadows are a different lot to the FoW ones (different skills etc).
Magmas Shields drop from a certain chest near where *prophecies* titans reside, and the same with platinum stuff and *canthan* shiro ken, these are monsters which will drop darkstone and forbidden keys, no modification of anything about them, including drops.

ANET may have stopped dropping shadow items completely in the Drakes quest, the domain of pain, & fear. I can't, as stated earlier, get a white drop! I guess my point is who determines what's a rare item & what's not? Why drop hundreds of gemstone axes & make it so hard to find a crystalline sword?

If the obsidian drakes drop them, then they'll be max armor as the Obsidian drakes are level 24.
FoW end chest...never seen a shadow shield drop, out of about 100 different chances from party members as well as myself. And it's also not guaranteed to be inscribable...a non-insc stygian reaver dropped from it one day for a now-guildie.
