Which Profession? please help

Its been a while since i last played Guild Wars,but now i am starting over.
I need help deciding which profession to play.Ive only got the first chapter.
Ive narrowed down my choices to warrior,ranger,elementalist and mesmer.
Don't care if its melee or ranged.Though I like to see LOTS of BIG numbers.
I really hate support characters (monk).
Before this i played WoW and i enjoyed being a rogue.
Like being able to solo with good survivability.
Is the information sufficient?

Id say between ele and mesmer....mesmer is just to fun to play ^^

thats a good combination to start with,good energy management and good damage capability.

does a ranger have good aoe capabilities?
warrior/mesmer would be a bad combination due to lack of warriors energy, right?

No, ranger's have almost no AoE what-so-ever. If you want lots of big numbers, ele is probably what you want.

which 2nd profession would help with survivability with elementalist as primary?

Big numbers and lots of them? Ritualist maybe, but as you dont have that in your list and hate support, Elementalist then.

Edit: Well, you're going to be able to change your secondary early enough for it not to play a large role. I'd probably choose /Mo for my secondary upon making a new ele.

would a mesmer (secondary) be helpful in PVE ?
because I tend to hate monks...

Yeah mesmer hexes help alot, especially if you use dom magic and backfire

I should use Ele coz.. their are strong and can nuke you dead

Because of that line I have to throw this out there, whatever profession you decide to be, be that profession. Use your secondary profession to complement your primary. Don't choose ele and load up on mesmer skills, otherwise why not just make a mesmer so that you can at least have runes to boost your power and the primary attribute. Taking a monk secondary doesn't mean people will want you to try to keep the party alive, real monks are there for that. People usually go with /monk for a reusable rez skill.

Assasins. Or warriors.

put of the 4 professions you named, go with warrior or ranger. There are no good builds that an ele can run with prophecies only and mesmers suck. warriors and rangers are both lots of fun and effective though.
