I've just been trying to sell my Runic Blade and a Monk/Assassin, acting very interested in the weapon started sending me messages, claiming the trade window was bugged, and we needed to go outside so I could show him.

I was asking for a 20/20 Sword Hilt. This was when they were 50K+ and someone was offering to sell one for like 30K. I thought, ok, bargain. I put up my money, they put up the 20/20 and then it cancels. He says something about full inventory, try again, did and it cancels again. He tries one more time, and this time I put up my money and they put up a Fiery Sword Hilt and try to have me hit Accept, I changed my offer to 30g and they didn't take it, go figure. Looks like 30K, lol

This isn't the worst scamming attempt but some guy was selling a r9 Celestial Sword for 25k so I asked if it was inscribable, he said it was, and I proceeded to buy it.
He then said he left it on another character and returned 2 minutes later and opened the trade window where I entered 25k. It had a Damage +14% (While in a Stance) inherent mod - not "Dance with Death"and he kept pushing me to buy it saying that it was inscribable and that he added that +14% mod himself so it had to be inscribable. When I rejected it he started calling me all sorts of stuff like "time waster", "noob" and other typical Internet insults.
My faith in humanity depletes every time I trade.
He then said he left it on another character and returned 2 minutes later and opened the trade window where I entered 25k. Not much luckely. Few times some people who try to offer gold instead of platinum.
But i hate the most the one time i had a kuuny, and not knowing how mucht they were priced (150k those days) i sold mine for 15k, thinking minipets were stupid.
I blame the other guy for taking advantage of this :P (Altough of course.. it's still my own silly fault =) ).

I would say the most pathetic scamming attempt I've encountered in during my time playing Guild Wars would probably be ANet offering the Bonus Mission Pack as an exclusive offer for those who buy things in the online store, then later offering to sell it for ten dollars to anyone.

I ask what that is and she explains, I ask how much and she says 5k. Just like she's hoping I knew nothing about the different presents and buy it. It's just a festival present, my dumb but it did give 1k and I learned.

I was selling a perfect crystalline. We went outside. The guy pet recall on me and ran off. He said "drop it so i can see stats". So i drop that long sword with the same skin from pre.(You know what im talking about) and he removes recall picks it up does the /laugh emote and leaves. He later pm's me "You bastard".

I did the old "switcharoo" on a W/A wanting me to drop an elemental sword outside so he "could see the stats"... he was so waiting for a drop that he dropped recall when that 1g coin hit the ground. I just laughed and went back in town. It was worth the 1g.

To vary that, got a wammo with Unyielding Aura, telling me that he had a glitch on trade chat, that i had to go die and he would ress me. I knew he had something in mind, so i did. He ressed me with UA, and told me to drop the item (a gothic dual axe i was sellin long time ago, when they had some gooood value). Needless to say, i laughed, said that I wouldnt drop it, and left.
Another one was with a monk, he was interested on the same axe, told me to go outside with him and another W/A, which apparently he wanted to buy something. I follow their game, go outside, and the monk asks to drop the object he was gonna buy from that W/A, he drops a dead sword, r11, and the monk goes "ok, its not duped, 100k+40e for it". Then asks me to drop the axe and if it wasnt duped, he'd offer 100k+150e. Again, needless to say, i complimented them on the new type of variant of this X/A scam, and left

A guy pm'd me and told me he'd pay 75k for all three if I made a fast trade. Naturally, I jumped at the chance. He put up his 75k into the trade, and I started to put all three into the trade window when he canceled the trade. "Faster!" he said! This happened 2-3 times, but I finally got all three in and hit accept! Yes, I was then the proud owner of 75g, and minipet-less...
The next day I reported him with a screenshot of the trade to Anet :P

without thinking, i thought it's that buyer
so i put in my candy canes without thinking
and accepted trade...without thinking...
after realising i got 0g for the trade, i asked the real buyer to give me the money
then he told me i was trading with someone else......

anyway, almost got scammed once in that dual scamm(someone selling "cheap" guildie buying for double), they were selling some mesmer greenie xD h8 those "scamms". Also sold couple of ectos for cheap:P

This one happened to a Guildy, who had not played the game for about 6 months, and had just come back to the game as EoTN came out.
They collected the materials and got their mini Black Moa, and had it out in town. Someone in the town started PM'ing them about how they couldn't get to the Gylla Hatchery yet, but that they had all the other materials for the pet, and would he consider swapping his pet for the materials since he could go and get the incubator again and re-get the mini pet.
He unfortunately didn't realise that you could only get one Incubator, so he ended up doing the swap. Immediately afterwards, the scammer started laughing & telling them that he'd just got pwnd in the scam.
A few weeks later, he was looking to buy a black moa mini to replace the one that got scammed, and again didn't realise that mini pets weren't worth what they had been when he was collecting them a year ago...so when he saw one offered with "PM offers" he offered 60k...they did ask if he was sure before accepting his offer.

The first trade with the delicious cakes went well without a problem. The next one was for a stack of party points. I put up my item but he cancelled it. I put it up again then he cancelled it again. Then he rushed me by saying he's not gonna buy anymore if I don't put it up quickly. I put up the party party stuff and he offered just 100 gold for everything. As soon as I finished typing "It's not 100 gold :P" he ran away and went somewhere else after realizing he couldn't rush me LOL!
