people have made threads about the problems...
here are a few quick fixes
STASH SOLUTION
given: crappy things are taking up too much space!
solution:
instead of putting the common crafting items in with everything else
make a tally of collected craftings items against a total collection possibility list
so you go to the agent and it brings up several different variations of storage...not just a single chest to throw and cram all your crap in...
AGENCY COLLECTION LIST:
...example:
platinum 132 bars *yeah right...
goldpieces 975 pieces
wood 689 logs
cloth 355 shreds
linen 11 shreds
shells 999 shells
snails 669 snails
puppy dog tails 101 puppy tails
etc 0 found
etc 0 found
etc 0 found
COLLECTABLE RUNE BOOK: (stored in your chest or in your backpack)
here is where you store your runes...
5 minor vigors
3 minor fire magic
1 minor strength
3 major blood magic
AGENCY SECURITY/POBOX CHEST: (the actual stash)
the 16-32 items that you actually like...
ARMORY @ GUILD HALL: (this is used to design a set of armor that your guild uses, this requires more changes in model viewing however!)
here is where your extra loot/guild weapons are stored...
private guildflavor guild armors, capes or samurai nameflags, etc
DROPS:
henchmen earning their keep...
henchmen kill monsters (hopefully with better AIs)
henchmen pick up gold and items (putting them in the global drop)
GLOBAL DROP: (for your eyes only)
players may sift through the global drop (except for the items that they individually picked up/were instanced) and they may throw inventory items into the global drop window at any time
TOWN DROP:
people may throw unwanted crap into the town drop which may be picked up such as spare swords, crappy bows, broken items, piles of gold, etc
whoever is feeling generous? sometimes its me!
(this is mental and in a window... not an actual pile of crap littering the town)
MERCHANTS:
merchants need to pay more for items of mental/human value
runes should be for 100 gp, 300gp, 500 gp and 1000 gp respectively
(not forgeting about the super runes such as vigor, absorbtion, etc for several plat)
this 20 gp for a rune is bull... why even pick them up...
why waste money to take them off the armor...
blank max dmg weapons should go for 100 gold and up
merchants need to sell items of mental/human value such as a quick max dmg sword/axe/bow/hammer/staff/rod/wand ... pvp quality weapons for maybe 2k (more or less)
speaking of merchants... you need to be able to grab items from your inventory window, select them and throw them into the merchant window for a quick sell... this will help ME, especially...
GOLD VALUE?
speaking of gold?
what do we have gold for anyways?
lets go communism!
CRAFTING...
but here's a concept.. either fix or get rid of crafting...
i haven't used crafting since my first newbie character... also, i skipped most of the armorering process in the first place...
typically, you make an armor at postsear ascalon or in the mountains
one at the desert,
one just before droknar (to get infused with 70armor)...
and if you are someone who plays more... maybe just maybe...
you buy a 15k set if you ever get the gold... items... and nerve to go to the goddamn dwarf asking for him to take 100k off your hands (2 weeks of life off your hands)...
that's only 3-5 times you actually make an armor set
considering i only have 3 characters and a PVP char, i only have made maybe 8 sets of armor and have/had a chest full of useless crafting materials (see #1 fix)
reevaluate the game...
do we fight these monsters just for the armor/quests... yes... yes we do...
are the monsters fun to fight? no they are not (the only fun ones are justiciar army because they seem balanced)
are our henchmen retarded? yes they are
THE WHOLE CRAFTING BUSINESS IS SKEWED
(incomplete.. and not worth the time)
#1, you don't really like collecting all that crap...
#2, the armor is never "cool" enough
#3, someone has that armor that was cool... and you feel oh so last week
#4, the armorer and weaponsmith both suck...
you should be able to craft superior weapons (rare quality)
and partially unique tradable armors...
before we all dedicate ourselves to the trade of crafting
SO I"M WRITING OFF CRAFTING MATERIALS AND CRAFTING AS A WHOLE AS JUST LAME BUSY WORK
enough complaining..
here is some solutions:
UNIQUE WEAPON
items can be made/remade by design team like in (neverwinter nights)...
they made them in parts and not as a whole item
(so go in and cut them up and rework the code to have the 3 parts together)
you attach the pommel design to the hilt design.. then the blade goes on
so you can have a GOLD POMMEL with CIRCLE HILT and SUPER DUPER BLADE
or it could be BRONZE POMMEL with SQUARE HILT and WIMPY DIMPY BLADE
or it could be RUBY POMMEL with RINGGUARD HILT and ULTRA THIN BLADE
3x3x3 possibilities of sword with only 3 total models
thus making a unique weapon all your own...
UNIQUE ARMOR
same for armor...
UNIQUE ITEM DROP
firstly, make item drops more realistic in terms of fantasy...
ie.... a prize winning hog drops strips of ham/bacon
a charr drops charr hide and a spiked club
a bandit drops a gold purse and a wooden sword
a knight drops a cuirass and a broadsword
a dragon drops a dragon skull and a dragon claw
in other words, MONSTERS DROP WHAT THEY ARE WEARING!
giant scorpion drops 500 gold from his wallet, and gucci shoes
flash gargoyle drops bacardi drink and umbrella are both unacceptable
(of course hiding things/gold in carcass or lump of mass is always good)
now that we have the ITEM DROP.. back to the weapon crafting...
take DRAGON SKULL and pieces of deldrimor steel.. and the armorer crafts you a DRAGON HELMET (showing the dragon head on the model of course)
take DRAGON CLAW and pieces of iron ingots... and the weaponsmith crafts you a DRAGON CLUB (showing the dragon claw on the model of course)
now we finally have something to do with all those damn hydra claws...
FINAL PART: PVP SLOT
you get 4 character slots (i say you should get 6, because there are six professions.. everyone would LOVE to have 1 of each profession for tasting preference...)
then in the middle of the NORMAL PVES (on the character selection screen)
there stands a beautiful skeleton warrior/monster in OPAQUE (allblack, allred, allgold, allmadden) chaos armor...
this is your PVP only selection...
first you HIGHLIGHT him/her (choose sex and name at initiation)...
then you can do one of three things...
(scroll of renameing anyone?)
(scissors of magic hairstyle?)
(magic brush of beard?)
1) recreate him from scratch (going in to select skills/attributes/weapons/armor)
2) select a drop down list of PREBUILDS and possible FLAVORBUILDS
3) at the bottom of the list you find a selection... CREATE NEW PREBUILD (this prebuild is only for you of course...)
so then after modifying the skills/attributes/armor/weapons etc
you can save and store your favorites/on the harddrive
there is no way of exploiting this since ANET makes available at creation the things that are stored on this personal .txt file (recently omitted things are not included)
thus... you may keep selecting this MIDDLE PVP CHARACTER and autochoosing a PSEUDOSTYLE for him to play in... whether it be your favorite AEROMANCER, your best KNIGHT, your evilest NECROMASTER, etc
TEH END
inventory and charslot, othercrap

...I'll have what he's having.
I liked the idea of prebuilds (appeals to my laziness), and I DO hate using so much room storing materials. Of course, unless the "listed" stacks of material were unlimited (potentially a bad idea), all those folk with multiple 250 stacks of rare material might be a little pissed.
