Getting to the Forgemaster (FoW)
WarlordGrievous
Hey all,
I'm now working on the mats of my FoW set but I'm looking for advice on how (once I get the mats) to reach the Forgemaster effectively.
Since last (and first) time I've been at the Forgemaster was over 1,5 years ago and lots of things have changed so I'm hoping it'd be easier these days to reach him.
I was wondering whether I could do it with heroes (me and my brother + 6 heroes), or even solo it. or will I just have to PUG it?
Any other strategies about FoW are welcome aswell, ofcourse
Help is appreciated

Oh, and I'm trying to achieve this with my Dervish, never went there with him so I'm not sure if there's any specifc build I should run in there (I'm now using a Deep wound spiker variant)

I PuG it when going to the Forgemaster. I never mention I'm going there though. You mention you wanna go there, your team wont make it. You say you come along for the ride and do whatever, you'll end up there with the team sooner or later.

Yourself as anything
Your brother as anything
Olias - Spiteful
Talhkora - Word of Heal
Dunkoro - Shield of Deflection with Gift of Health (and other standard prot)
General Morgahn - Song of Restoration
Hayda - Expel Hexes + Command
ANYTHING, possibly Wards, possibly another SS
That will win, pretty easily too. Depending on your/your brothers classes, I could tell you exactly what would work good, but that should do the trick.

PuGs work well. If you tell them you're going for your armor then make sure you let them know you'll stay after you get the armor. You do kindof owe them for helping you get there anyways. Besides, more loot!
fenix
I never PuG there, heroes are better. You can pick the build, you can tell them where to stand, you can even use their skills for them. Most PuGs can't do that on their own...which makes heroes awesome.

I don't usually want to PUG since it's made me pull my hair out before.

Well, then both of you go Melandru's Dervishes, with Victorious Sweep, Wearying Strike (sweep?) and Chilling Victory, plus a skill to attack faster (Heart of Fury is good) and you will tear FoW apart. 2x Melandru will be very handy for most of it, since it's so strong.
Hope that helped

Me and my brother.
6 fire eles, 2 monks, a handful of wards.
The place exploded, and we had... 1 death.
for Dervish and Warrior, just run builds to kill shizzle like DSlash and AoM. Really, FoW is nothing special, and not hard in the slightest.

6 of any damage specced class + 2 monks > PvE
Hell, throw smiting on the monks over protection and then they do damage too.

Maybe a little off-topic, but ArenaNet must add the possibility to enter solo with a full heroes/henchies team to FoW (and all other "elite" places) Specially in some years and after GW2 release.

Ursan rampage ftw!
But ehh, a standard 5 man group will work.
Obsidian Tank (D/E or W/E)
SS
Nuker (Renewal or Echo)
Healing Monk (WoH or LoD)
Bonder (kind of optional depending how experienced your team is)

FOW isn't really very hard. Any competent team can get to the forgemaster with no trouble. The hardest part is probably the spider cave, and that's easy.

Save yourself alot of money and dont get fow? lol
there is infinty styles of armor out there that match other styles and create a unique look for any character.

Went to the Forgemaster yesterday to pick up my first set of FoW, I also went with my brother. He went tank, and we had one SS (me), three monks (I didn't want to take any chances :P) and three SH eles. Got through it easily.

Well, I remember testing FoW with 4 men team (me and 3 heroes) in the free FoW weekend, I did plenty well, it's very possible doing it carefully.
LOL! signed.

Finding a compotent PUG isn't hard these days. Its quite easy to find one that can make it to the Forgemaster. The key is to make sure that everyone has time to get to forgemaster and knows what they're doing.
Yes, you can get there by using heroes. Since you have a partner, I'd go with this option. :P
My setup:
Healer - Healer's Boon healing build or a build with WoH and maybe some protection spells (Guardian, Protective Spirit).
Bonder - If no human bonder, just get a protection monk. Just about anything will work. If you don't have bonding skills a second healing monk will be fine. Skill wise, Zealous Bendiction and are okay protection spells to use. I haven't really had the time to play with protect elites other than life barrier. XD
SS/BR - SS+BR = handy.
Tank - You (Dervish) - I don't know enough about dervishes to offer solid advice. Sorry.
Ele- Elite of Choice (SF is what most people use) + Meteor Shower atleast. It will keep those power WoH using Menzies down. Don't take fire spells that scatter monsters. (ie. firestorm.)
Ele - ""
Whatever

It doesn't much matter what you fill the last few spots with. I'd go with nukers if you're looking to burn through it fast. An interrupt ranger couldn't hurt, but its not necessary. Or if you're really scared take another monk. :P

When I got my Ritualist's Obsidian Headwrap, myself and a guildmate formed a group that was specifically intended to get to the Forgemaster and get armour. it worked well, since we all wanted to get the armour and so were all willing to commit to the group. In fact, my Ritualist was able to do it without loosing her Survivor title track.

My dervish and my brother's bonder can clear most areas in FOW quite easily. That's how I got him the FOW set too. But it takes quite long. Now if there is an SS, it would make things much much faster.

You don't even need the warriors in FoW if you don't want/have them. 6 things to kill stuff (passive defense included) and some hybrid monks.

My guild went to clearing FoW on Friday night. We went in with 4 ursan, 2 monks, and a WoR rit. Should have taken us an hr or so. Unfort before we beat Rastigen we lost 1 Ursan, then another after getting to forgemaster. By the time we finished all quests, there was 2 ursan and 2 monks. Made for quite a long roll through, but still sad that ursanway can survive. We did use a consumable or 2 along the way as with only 4 of us we had to complete at least 3-4 more quests to complete
