Roleplaying in Guild Wars

What exactly do you do?

I turn of the local chat.

In GW the only RP you get is in your head.
My Guildies think I'm nuts and have a good laugh because all my Chars stay in character - they have relationships with each other ie 3 of them are sisters, another is a airheaded ranger cousin form the woods, various distant cousins and one rather crazy foundling. Newer Guildies have been a bit confused by the RP, but are soon laughingly informed of the various family relationships of my girls and told to play along and "humor" Friday cause she is weird but harmless LOL
RP is not really a feature of GW.

Out of fourteen chara, my Elementalist and my Dervish are sisters who spend most of their time together (aka always sitting in the same town), my two Rangers are sisters who don't get along and my two Necromancers aren't related but are both in the same Order of Necromancy and share an interesting relationship with my Mesmer. The rest are pretty much loners, out for their own fame and fortune, with my second Elementalist being a young street urchin.
I don't RP in the usual sense, but they all have short backstories that serve mostly to fit them into the world. So, while GW may not have been designed with it in mind, you can pseudo-RP if you like.

I start with the basics of character creation. I decide how I want the character to look and what profession he/she will have. As for which sex the character will be, I base that on the dance and how goofy it looks. As for their relationship to each other, well I gotta tell you I play them all as individuals who only meet every so often. But who would be ripping good buddies, pals, if they ever got to adventure with each other. (wink wink anet.
) Each character has it's own quirks. My male warrior is a raving drunk, no title yet but he's a career drunk so it might take him a while
. I'm pretty sure my mesmer is the one that likes the sweets. My necro has obsessive compulsive disorder, he has to do every single quest and reveal every single speck of map and has to collect every elite skill, etc, etc. My sin only works if he knows he's gonna get paid. I even used texmod to give him different patterns for his armor. All black for the night missions, cammo for the jungle, tan for the deserts, white for the snow, etc. All the same armor, but he changes the way it looks to suit the situation.

There isn't much roleplaying in this game besides playing the role of your character, well your profession. When thousands of people play the same quests/missions/role as you there isn't much role playing.

There's not much roleplaying since you don't really get choices within the storyline...

Sakura Az
i don't role play so to say.. but a few of my characters have developed thier own personalitys. like my assassin my main character, absolutly LOVES pie right now and is the kinda shy, funny girl out of all mine, her personality hides how deadly she is in combat. she's a very funny girl and will pull out and taunt any foe and then laugh at them.
guildwars isn't so much role playing unless you want it to be like that.

Anyway, RPer in GW most times stick together, constantly stay in character and play the game like everybody else, only difference is they pretend they are there characters.... for everything Chat, TS/Vent, and often forums.
There hard to find in the game and don't always admit they are, if your interested best bet is to find a RP alliance.

Since the guy is banned and this is probably just going to lead to some flaming and crap like that, closing this.
